No, I'm not asking for a bios. What I'm asking is, with an unmodded PS2 am I boned as far as getting a bios dump in a legit manner?

EDIT: No, I don't want to "play" games just want to fool around. I'm one of those nice n00bs who actually reads the gigantic pink WARNING: NOTHING WORKS, DON'T ASK! messages :lol:

perhaps you could get some sort of swap method. i personally just got a modded one. i really feel as though i should make a faq for dumping the bios.

Oh please do. I would like to dump mine, and any sort of guide would be great.

Depends on your PS2 version, pre v10 u can use the well known exploit to say run ps2link and then send the dumpbios elf over the network to the ps2. Versions of PS2 that cant use the exploit require a modchip or a swap method of some sort. Which I will not give details of in here, but if you search the net you will find heaps of info on it.

I take it V10 is any of the new slim models? Mine being BIOS Version SCPH-70012.

wow, I hadn't realized there were quite THAT many versions. is the v10 the first one that had the infrared remote sensor built in then?

Thanks for the info. It's interesting to see how many times this system has been "back to the drawing board".
