Nokia's VP of corporate strategy, Antii Vasara, has confirmed that there are no plans to develop future versions of the N-Gage. In an interview at Vnunet , the Vice-President admitted that the N-Gage did not achieve the projected targets. "N-Gage is still being sold but it was not a success in the sense of developing a new category." He said, "We learnt that people want to play games on all devices. As such we are integrating the gaming software into Series 60 phones."

The company now plans to Focus on mobile TV and music with the N91 Handset, a smartphone that can hold upto 3000 music tracks.

The company still has plans for gaming though. According to Vasara, Nokia will emphasize even more on mobile gaming in 2007, a time by which the mobile technology will allow for better games.

Support for the existing N-Gage and N-Gage QD handsets continues, despite the fact that there are no plans to introduce further iterations in the series.

Nothing odd about that, u dont see 3 or 4 versions of the GBA or PSP as well, games will continue to be developed and some pretty good ones :p just when i though my ngage was going down High Sieze, Urban Asphalt 2, One and PathWay to glory 2 gets released. All damn good titles. I would buy them if they got out for the PC as well.

the first thing that comes to mind when i think n-gage is those bizarre pictures of people random objects up to their faces imitating a phone.

WEll, Nokia is in a no-cell's land right now.
They can't jump to handheld gaming full fledge, as they can't stand upto to nintendo and sony.

However, even in the mobile phone gaming sector......I think they're behind. Sony Ericsson's W900 display is powered by nVidia's graphics chip which is called the GeForce 4800 and Siemen's S75 is using some custom ATi chip and Quake Mobile Edition looks uberly awesome as a cellphone game.

As of now, my handheld gaming device is SonyEricson K700i which has visuals almost as good as any Ngage game.

I think my phone (nokia 6230) is close to GBA or something (except the sound ..but that's more a fault of how the games are designed)... controls badly with those phone keys, though.
It doesn't hold a candle to the DS either... a comparison with PSP isn't even nescesary. :p

I've got a SE K500i and I love the visuals of Sega Tennis, it's too darn hard though >_<

Heh, I remember people holding them up like they were going to eat them (since they looked like tacos).:p I hated those things, and have been lucky enough to never have seen on in real life, but the screenshots I did see have brought back memories of Colecovision.:p
