My internets?

My internet will stop working (or start working very poorly) on my pc and my mothers pc until we reset the computers after a certain period of time. I'm connected by wire (to router) and shes using wireless. When we call our isp they say its something on our side, what connection setting could be causing this problem?

Tried a different router?
I noticed that it stops working properly when I start or resume a bittorrent download.
It works again after I reset the pc.
maybe you should uninstall and install internet driver , that helped me with my wireless connection
your router/modem can't handle the amount of connections bit torrent opens.
best bet, is disable DHT.

This would be the case with files with many parts I'm guessing?
How old is your router? My router used to do that too when I opened a bittorrent download. You may just need to buy a new one. Mine was just too old.

An early 2008 model i believe.....
That's strange...and it does this when you are on a LAN setting? Or when you're using the wireless?
its not the age, rather the capabilities that matter.
And that's one reason why old men get the younger girls. But that is neither here, nor there.
So we're relating routers to relationships now? That's an interesting comparison.

"See, my girlfriend is the router, and I'm the CAT5 cable"
Age = / = Experience.

and if he did that, his internet will stop working, completely.

It does it for both :/
I've only had that be done when my router was on the wireless setting. If I was connected to a cable, then everything went smoothly. I'm sorry. I guess I'm no help.

DHT isn't required for Torrents to run properly.
what firewall are you using?
Fire wall disabled :D. I don't go on any dangerous sites, and I have no information worth protecting stored on my pc.
have you had this problem before?
have you reset your router?
what bit-torrent client do you use?
