Pete's OpenGL GPU Plugin: Although slower than its Directx counterparts, the imagers look a lot better. Good with most Geforce cards.

Pete's Directx 7 Direct3D GPU Plugin: Although faster, it's images aren't as crisp as OpenGL. Good with most RADEON cards.

Pete's Direct 6 Direct3D GPU Plugin: Sacrifices a bit more image quality than the Directx 7 one. Also a little faster, too. Works good with Voodoo 3 and higher.

Pete's Directsound SPU: Simple, however, limited. It has some quirks that needs to be fixed. Other wise, it's better than the MIDAS one.

Lewpy's Glide Plugin: What can I say? If you have a 3dfx card, use this for sure. Voodoo or higher usually works well with this plugin.

Null2's SPU: Fails where Pete's Plugin doesn't, and suceeds where Pete's Plugin misses it marks. I have tested both, and both of are missing some sound fx. This recommended to people who doesn't like Pete's SPU Plugin.

Iori's SPU: Good, although a bit difficult to understand the options and configure. Recommended for advanced users who didn't like either Null2's or Pete's Directsound Plugin.

Pete's MIDAS SPU: Terrible. But I can't blame him, since I heard to that the MIDAS library has some limitations. We all know that he tried his hardest, and it's no different with this plugin.

Well that's about it. What do you think?

Nice rundown. I'm sure people who read this and are new to emulation will find it extremely helpful. Thanks for posting it.

Thanks. I shall now do a more detailed rundown. I was in a hurry the first one. This is a little bit different.

SPU Plugin Comparisions:

First off, I don't recommend MIDAs version. Although Pete's an excellent Plugin maker, the MIDAS version was terrible. I can't really tell you how it sounded, but I'll say this. This plugin will hurt your ears. You've been warned.

The DirectSound version, however, totally shows Pete's Plugin programming skills, talent, ande experience. It's amazingly accurate, almost to the point of sounding like the Playstation. However, some sound effects are missing, and XA audio is often choppy.
All in all, the best plugin overall, and is recommended to people new to psx emulation.

Null2's SPU is a good choice. However, I've noticed that Null2's SPU plugin and Pete's DSound plugin are totally different. Null2's plugin fails where Pete's plugin suceeds, and suceeds where Pete's plugin fails. Good alternative, if you don't like Pete's Plugin.

Iori's Plugin is good, but I only recommend it to advanced users.

I don't think MIDAS spu was bad. Some months ago it was my favourite spu. I played Spiderman up to the end with perfect sound.
However, now I prefer Iori's:cool: . Its sound is very good and just as fast as the others.
