Lo,

As i'm near the end of FF IX, i will soon order some more psx rpgs (just started a month ago to play psx rgps, thanks to epsxe, after a long period of snes rpg).

The first one in my order is FF VIII, but i wonder wich version to buy... someone told me that FF VIII PC has a better movie quality and a better 3d, but a midi music. So here's my question : with a sblive are the midi good enough ? Is there a recommended sound banks ?

Other game i wish to order :
Lunar 2 : eternal blue, thousand arms and maybe BOF IV...

Have u got some other recommandation ? I love rpg with a 'deep' character developpement and with an happy end -- and they love eachover forever, get married, blablabla (must be my romantic secret side ;) ) .

Snes rpg i have played and loved : Chrono trigger, seiken densetsu 3, ff4, zelda, and tales of phantasia (not finished yet so i dunno the end=).

ps : not sure where to post this message (misc pxs or here)...

Well if you like RPG's play some SNES RPG's , they are great , I also recomend LoD , Chrono Trigger and Cross ! As for FF8 if you just have a PC then buy the PC version , becouse of the sound , cause the rest is the same !

LoD , legend of the dragoon ? i was thinking of it, but after reading the reviews on gamefaqs, i'm not so sure...

Snes rpg, i've already played a lot of them, and i made my move to the psx. I think fmvs when they are well done and storyline/character beneficial) are a good + to the genre.

ahhhhh, u have ressucited my wondering about LoD

I made some comments on Legend of Dragoon in my old site's review.

Suikoden may be up your alley. If you only care about characters and the ending, you might enjoy Thousand Arms. Unfortunately, most PSX games have quite depressing storylines and endings.

Just read ur review, and it confirms what i've already read... Thanks.

Yeah for sure Thousand arms is in my order :). Suikoden ? i dunno this one, i'm going have a look on gamespot and gamefaqs, TA for the idea.

It's not that i only care about char and the ending, but among all good rpg (speaking of gameplay, music and storyline), i'll first play the one with that.

definantly buy suikoden one and two.

two awesome games.

as for the pc final fantasies. err BAD! well atleast seven was terrible. they did nothing to improve the movies and the compatibility sucked. No windows 2k compatibility. made me mad. stick with the ps games.

ff8 pc and psx version is quite the same actually
try borrowing the pc version 1st and try it on your pc
i got one and the graphic is only ok with det 14.10 installed
other than that would cause color corruption
the music is quite ok(at some places the music sounds different than psx version because it's in midi format)
if the game plays fine on your pc then go ahead and buy the pc version,if not pick up the psx version

Thanks for ur answers

I can borrow FF8 PC from my brother (if i can catch him), so i will test it ...

Ok so my ordering will be Lunar2 : Eternal blue, suikoden 2 and Thousands arms... I think it will take quite sometimes to finish them all...

I was wondering about chrono trigger psx too... it seems the added anime and the end are valuable... Damn i love this game (it's last game i still play (and replay) on the snes).

The musical quality depends a lot on your soundcard. If it's a good soundcard with good midi playback, the PC version may sound better. If you have a bad soundcard, FF8 PC will be worse.

On an unrelated note, there sure have been a lot of moved threads (like this one) to incorrect forums today...strange.

what about grandia, just read some reviews on gamefaqs and this game seems pretty cool...
any advice ? I must look for it's comptability. :)

Ryos, sorry for the wrong board posting, i wasn't sure where to post it...

Aegnor: Actually, THIS is the wrong forum. The one you had it in was more correct than this one. As for Grandia, I don't like the localization job, but the game itself is fairly decent. It also works quite well in ePSXe.

Grandia is the best Rpg that i ever played after FF8.....is the most funny too, the guy guy who made the history was not so concerned about serious carachters and the gameplay and batlle style is very different from the other games.....(but the gameplay, like controls are similar to Xenogears....But the battle...I never saw some like that....)

thats it ;)
