As a (former) Fasttracker 2 / Modplug Tracker user,
I'm looking for a bit more modern/popular music making software in the freeware/cheap range.

Any enthusiasts here who can recommend me a good program? MPT is still nice, but it feels kind of outdated nowadays....

How about magix music maker? I havnt actually used it my self but it is worth checking out

i think theres one call fruityloops or something, and theres one from sony... havent used one in a long time so i dont remember.

FL Studio, Reason, MadTracker (that last one is kinda outdated). None of them is free though...
