Hello everyone. This is a collection of useful emulation documents that I have typed up over time, to assist others in understanding more about N64 emulation and emulation in general. I update my site from time to time with more neat stuff, so check back every once in awhile. I removed the emuxhaven links because I'm pretty sure at this point it's gone forever.

Notice: As of the edited date above, the web address has changed once again. My site is no longer on atspace, they seemed to have a problem with emulation sites. So, I have moved to a new host/domain.

Bighead's EmuHelp
This is my site's frontpage, where I sometimes post news items as well as link to the sites contents. Although I try to offer general information on all emulation, the main focus is Nintendo64 emulation.

N64 Multiple Game Configuration List
The main attraction, this page is a huge list of N64 games with configurations of which plugin/emulator combo to use for the best experience possible, as well as any known issues with the configuration. It also offers various links to the emulators themselves, as well as any other links I found useful. Most of the games on the list were tested extensively, so try my settings and you most likely can't go wrong. There are still a few games without configurations, and some of the settings and plugins may be outdated. I have a lot of free time available lately, so I hope to update it very soon and keep it updated.

N64 Emulation Tutorial
This tutorial was designed with the intention that someone who knows nothing about computers or N64 emulation, can read it and get started playing N64 on their computer with no hassle. It goes into detail on what ROMs, emulators, and plugins are, and offers useful links to assist getting N64 up and running on your computer. It will show you exactly how to install plugins and all of their required files, set up controls using N-Rages Input plugin, using Controller Paks, and getting Mario to run around on your screen. It is a pretty long tutorial, but is also very informative.

N64 Graphics Plugins Settings
I had this planned for the plugins packs for years, but I never got around to finishing it until recently. This document is a brief explanation of every setting that you find when configuring graphics plugins in the emulator, and the effect it has when playing games.

GoodN64+GoodGUI ROM Checking Tutorial
This is my latest tutorial. I noticed there wasn't a tutorial on the web that was thorough enough to help the emulation noob set up GoodGUI and GoodN64, so I decided to make one. This tutorial will help in setting up GoodGUI to use GoodN64 as well as any of the other GoodTools, and use them to rename your ROMs to identify good dumps from bad dumps. It also goes into a bit of detail on other types of ROMs found such as hacks, translations, overdumps, etc...

Downloads Page
Here you will find a download link for an offline version of my N64 Config List, Iconoclast's great N64 document, an up-to-date N64 Plugins Pack, and even a link to some great icons by starvingartist found on deviantart that you can use for emulator shortcuts. I also have a couple other neat things such, as a batch script to recompress rar and zip into 7z, and a wiimote script to use with GlovePIE that supports the nunchuck and classic controller.

Well I think that's about everything. I hope you all enjoy the site and find it useful. It's come a long way since it was started, and I hope my emulation documents will help newcomers to the scene get games up and running on their computer.

ive been playing banjo tooie and i noticed on your list that is says "Unstable?". I tried clicking on the link to get the save states but it doesn't work. But anyway ive played up to glitter gultch mine and ive seen no problems so far except, when i tried to shoot a fire egg at the switch to open the gate in the plataue and it doesn't work. That must be what you mean by unstable. is there anyway to fix this?

In fact, I think 1964 is the best N64 emu out there, I've been getting most of the best results from it (apart from Castlevania, Mupen 64 seems to be the way). N64 emulation is not in a good state sadly. We just have to wait (and hope) for any real update from Mupen Plus or Project 64.

Oh very useful comment! No wonder you have more than 10000 posts:lol:
Care to explain why: "Mupen is a better emulator".
...
Let's just say that n64 emulation is not in a good state because you have to try and configure each time 3 (or 4) different emulators for every possible game. (Which take quite some time to do it)
And there's still some games which are nowhere near a perfect emulation state (if ever it exists =)

Because its actively developed and the developers are readily contactable. Not to mention the fact that they've all been in the n64 scene for a great number of years so know what needs to be done and where.

Ah you're talking about Mupen64 Plus, I thought you were talking about the "old" Mupen 64...
But There's no up to date version of Mupen64 plus for windows, it's still only for Linux or Mac sadly

i would talk about them but im too scared to try them pj64 has a crash each time i close it ive been told its my pad plug im waiting for the time to fix it so far everyones been too busy. as everyone says ill have to be patient. so far ive had only artifacts happen on pj 1964 for most worries other n that crash at closing of emu. actually it might be my graph plug when i go to fullscreen at times thats where it crashes or im using wrong emu for the game i usually play fzerx re2(everyone knows bout this one) worms armageddon. i also feel its unloved the 64 area of emu. it is starved of the attention it needs although things are mainly worked on when able to it stilll is starving haha. if i said anything wrong correct where it needs be
