Hey, I have a question I'm trying to play my Command & Conquer on my PC with the mouse but... I can't figure out how to :( I switched it to Digital/Analog Mouse T1 (F5) butit doesn't allow me to use my mouse (reason why I'm playing it on my PC is because I don't have a PSX mouse). Please help!!!

Hmm??? I didn't quite understand what you said... what I want to do is to be able to use my PC mouse as a PSX mouse you know how PSX can use a mouse? I want to be about to use my PC mouse as a PSX mouse on ePSXe.

PSX mouse? Never heard of such a thing. To the best of my knowledge (which is admittedly incomplete), there never was a PSX mouse.

PS2, maybe (it does after all have a pair of USB ports), but even there I've never heard of any game which supports a mouse. Any game that did so would have to be specifically written for it.

Just because there's a pointer on the screen in C&C doesn't mean you can use a mouse there. The best you're going to get (in ePSXe, anyway) is having a mouse emulate the left-hand analog stick. There may be a pad plugin out there which will let you select which analog stick the mouse emulates, but since ePSXe doesn't support pad plugins you'll have to use it with a different emulator such as sssPSX, PSXeven or PCSX.

heh, google pwns j00

http://au.playstation.com/psone/hardware/mouse.jhtml

and more importantly, http://www.vidgames.com/ps/software/mouse.html which shows that C&C:red alert and red alert retaliation both support.

There's an option under ePSXe to even use a mouse the promlem is I don't know how to bind my mouse movements the the controller!
i dont know either, and i dont have any mouse using games to test it. i think this actually emulates the PSX mouse.

and i tried out that pad plugin. basically, it doesnt emulate the PSX mouse at all (or seem to support a controller..) but rather what it does is map the mouse to functions on the PSX controller. what you do is map your keyboard to the controller, then on the left you map your mouse to the controller too. for example, up on mouse is up on the controller, mouse1 is X, mouse2 is O, etc etc etc. however as far as i can tell, it only supports the old PSX controller style, and no analog sticks. but...doesnt C&C use the dpad? so just map the mouse to the dpad and play from there....

oh yeah, you're going to have to use an emulator that supports pad plugins. for my experiment i used PSXeven.

I stand corrected. There is indeed a mouse for PS1. I was wrong and you were right about that. It was even available as a launch accessory.

I did some research, and here is what I found:

The Digital/Analog Mouse T0 and Digital/Analog Mouse T1 do what I said before: they turn mouse movement into simulated stick movement. The faster you move the mouse, the further over the virtual stick is pushed.

The Digital/Mouse setting looks like it's supposed to support the PS1's mouse mode, but it appears not to work. I have a game that supports mouse (Die Hard Trilogy), and tried the Digital/Mouse setting with it two different ways: Digital/Mouse setting on Pad 1, and on Pad 2. In neither case did moving the mouse or clicking (before and after switching modes using F6 and F5 as appropriate) have any effect. The game ignored mouse input.

So, in regards to ePSXe, it looks like the support for a virtual PS1 mouse is broken.

Using the Digital/Analog Mouse settings would make sense, if (a) the game supported the analog sticks, (b) the stick you needed was the left-hand one, and (c) you could program mouse clicks into the pad config so they'd correspond to X, O, triangle, square, etc. Since (c) doesn't work it makes C&C in emulation problematic.

Your best options are to use the default controls, or use a different emulator and that new mouse plugin, or get C&C for PC. If you decide on the latter I can point you to instructions on how to get it to run under XP (I've successfully done it).

I wouldn't recommend buying a PS1 mouse and trying to plug it into a PSX->USB adapter - the drivers for the adapter are very unlikely to support it, and even if they did it's doubtful any emulator would.

I apologise for necromancing this thread

but whats so hard about this?

all you do is set it to the mouse in preferably the player 1 pad input, and launch the game,

the game should automatically detect that the mouse is in use... atleast it does in Warzone 2100

the T0 and T1 modes are just the mouse simulating the left and right sticks

Digital / Mouse is emulating the PSX Mouse

Only Die Harder, and games that specify use the mouse will be able to use it.

This was the only thread i found on the PSX Mouse, and if others were to search for it, they would think it doesn't work.

i was updating the thread on the fact it does when set properly.

i know you dont mean harm but reviving a nearly 2 1/2 year-old thread for posts like this is really annoying, please avoid doing this in the future.
