Ok, firstly I am a wrench head, not a computer wiz. I do know some about computers, but I am more of a networking guy. Not a build a computer guy.

Here's my set up thus far:

4 sticks of 2gb DDR2 1000 PC2-8000 RAM from G. Skills

RAIDMAX SMILODON ATX-612WBP Black Foldout MB Computer Case with 500w power supply

BFG Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT OC PCIe video card

The motherboard I bought from my roommate, he guarantees me it works and all, that isn't my concern. I have no idea what motherboard it is. What I do know is what it says on the board. AM2+, Phenom CPU, PCI-E Next Gen.2, RX780M-A V:1.0, Serial ATA II, ATA 133, and Made in China. If you need a picture I can supply one.

Here's my question! Will this processor work with this motherboard?

AMD Phenom II X4 940 Deneb 3.0GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Black Edition Processor

Newegg.com - AMD Phenom II X4 940 Deneb 3.0GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 125W Quad-Core Black Edition Processor - Processors - Desktops

Thanks in advance! Sorry if my question may seem retarded.. lol

If the Motherboard supports 125W processors, you should be fine.

Is it an ECS-RX780M ?

lol, every mobo has that.

Try to take a picture of the mobo if possible, or try to find out the exact name of it so we can tell u if it supports it or not.

My guess would be that it does support it, though u may need a BIOS update if it's not updated. U may encounter some stability issues if u don't update it.
