I just got the Microsoft LifeChat LX-2000 headset and I can't seem to get it to work. I've plugged it into the microphone jack and the speaker jack on my laptop and the speakers work but the microphone wont pick up on any sound. The Sound Properties window says its "Working" and there is a green checkmark on the "Line In" icon. The sound bar to the right of the icon doesn't show any green bars when i make sounds. I have another mic that does the same thing .

Oh yeah and I'm using Vista.

Anybody know what I can do to fix this?

your laptop probably has a built in mic, which means you have to change the Mic in port in sound/audio devices.

I wish it was that simple. I dont have a built in mic. In my Device Manager I only have one thing under "Sound, video and game controllers" and its called "High Definition Audio Device". Should there be 2 "High Definition Audio Devices"? One for the mic jack and one for the speaker jack?
