Hi all,

I have read alot about the various MGS issues on the forum. With
some of the new plug-ins (ex. Eternal SPU), some of these problems are supposed addressed (by various postings) ...

If it's not too much trouble, can someone give a list of the things that are still problematic with MGS on ePSXe, and give a full config listing of their plug-in config?

So that this thread can be reference by any future inquiries about MGS. ;)

I noticed most of the problem fix has been tested on GeForce cards, (I'm running ATI Radeon DDR, which is another popular choice) ... I'd like to try out the afore-mentioned config and see if they are fixes for ATI as well. :p

Sorry about the long-winded message.

My PC Config is:
Intel P4 1.4 GHz CPU
ATI Radeon DDR 64MB Video Card
Sound Blaster Live! X-Gamer 5.1

MDEC crashes in ePSXe 1.40 is probably on the only lingering issue right now, but you could use FPSE 0.9, ePSXe 1.0.1, or simply disable the MDECs to get around this problem.

the video is perfect under pete's OGL 1.54 GPU, just use PC FPS calculation in game fixes.

As for sound, the External SPU 1.1 is currently the best choice, however there are still a few bugs in MGS's SPU emulation, but they are really minor now...sometimes the dialouge de-syncs in long cut sceens but that's it.

once the dialouge is fixed, I think I can finally retire VGS.
here is a save state of before the first crash.
The crash happens after you fight ocelot.

The savestate is from the NTSC SLUS_005.94 version of MGS.
and this is the error message I got in windows 2000 & XP
Hehehe, you seem to be in bad shape in MGS
yeah, Snake should eat more rations, but I'm keeping him on a 'diet' :D hee hee
thanks for taking the time to look at the MGS's MDEC problem calb :)

and to carnage to, if your usinging pete's OGL or D3D set framebuffer textures to either Emulated Vram or Gfx card buffer.
