intel graphics card, eh? ugh...this is like telling a mother that her son is dead but.... Mart2901, your graphics card sucks.

basically, the reason why it's going so slow is because your graphics card cant handle it.

the least you can do is update your graphics card drivers (go to intel.com). i've found that this helps a little bit in OGL applications (from my experience). however, if you want a smooth PSX emulation experience, you're probably going to have to use a software plugin; i recommend Peops software GPU.

otherwise, you'll have to get a new videocard.

Umm.. does the codec thingie works fine at any other moment? If not and you somehow managed to get where you are without using it (is it even possible), listen to what hushy said.
if yes, then it's most likely a cd/image problem. if you're playing off an image remake the image from your cd, if playing from a cd, it's probably scrached, try making an ISO out of it, see if that works.
Another possibility is that this is a common problem with MGS, but I doubt it.

Ok thanks.Though there is no scratch on it and I tried to use Magic ISO maker to make isos for the two disks it failed the same time in the same position.Ps. Is it possible when fighting Psycho Mantis to switch the controller ports? It is what you are required to do!

so, did you do the things i've said? i never got any positive feedback. let's recap:

-update your graphics card drivers at intel.com
-if it still goes like crap, switch to peops soft

I really don't see how updating graphic drivers will fix his one-time problem... (or do codec conversation always behave that badly?)
I think you should try making an ISO with alcohol 120%. If that doesnt work, then the disc is most likely damaged.

ok let me understand that this is what you did.

you're playing on disc 1. you load up your memory card and you're in the snow. you go into that one hut, perhaps throw a chaff grenade so you dont get shot by the camera guns, and you run down teh stairs. the screen goes black and says INSERT DISC 2. you press Escape then you go to File--->change disc, insert disc 2 in your computer, then press ok.

and then it goes back to the game...and what happens...?
