MESS is a cool project, but it'll take years till PSX is emulated well I think. And you'll need like 6ghz ocatcore cpus to emulate it and it won't look that great.

Doubt that, Mame emulates games like Star Gladiator just fine on my 2.3ghz dual core amd. And since Star Gladiator runs on ZN-1 which is basically a psx then I don't see why it wouldn't run great under Mess aswell. And also since Mame and Mess shares the same core code the Mess psx driver should work as well as the Mame one minus console specific stuff like cdrom emulation (which I believe is very preliminary at the moment in Mess psx driver)

Yeah, and since it's MESS, they'd probably require that your turn your PSX games in CHD files, as with the PCE-CD driver. Which would be pretty annoying, but whatever.

That said, MESS rocks for everything up to and including the 16-bit systems. Then again, I adore the MAME interface and style.
this release is very good. it's interesting to see another Phillips CD-i emulator out there besides CD-i Emu and CDice.
