Memory Card Problem

23169 Views 12 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  VerdantSeamanJL
I just formatted my PC, but before doing that I copied the memory cards "MCD001.ps2" and "MCD002.ps2" and put them in my flash drive.

As I re-installed my Pcsx2 0.9.8, and copy pasted my memory cards to the folder Pcsx2 created in my documents, I can't seem to load any game.

The memory card is "needs formatting" but I don't want to lose the saves in it.
I tried myMC but it says that the memory card I selected is not a ps2 memory card image!

Any ideas?

Did you tried to put the cards in the pcsx2 folder in Program Files
The program files don't have the memory card folder in them but I did put them there, without the folder though and nothing happened.
In 0.9.8 you can select the memory card folder location,so make sure it is pointing to a place where the cards are(actually I'm using the portable version so I don't know if you can change the location but at least maybe you'll be be able to see where pcsx2 is searching for the cards)

Are you sure that your cards are still ok,did you check the with mymc again after pcsx2 tell you that the cards are not formatted?

BTW mymc shows that error when you try to open not formatted cards
I don't think my cards are ok, mymc says it's not a ps2 memory card, and won't load the memory card at all, I want to extract the save files in order to format my memory card since the PS2 says the memory card is not formatted.
Well if mymc can't open your backup of your memory cards that you put in your flash drive before the reinstall, then most likely the cards are damaged.

Did you just copy the cards from your usb or move them(maybe there is still hope if you copy them)

Can you upload your cards(if you still have them in your USB)
I did copy them, and here they are.
I only want the memory card 1, been trying for the past 3 hours and searching for a way to extract my save files :(
I'm sorry but the cards are 100% not formatted.
Checking them on hex level they both contains only one hex value(F)which means that the cards are 100% clean and not formatted

Maybe you copy the wrong cards before the reinstall
I guess I did, thank you so much for the help though. Appreciated.
I think that happened to me before, here's probably what happened.

You didn't backup your memory card. Sadly.

On older versions, the PS2 memory card files would be in a very specific place, inside the directory where your PCSX2 files are located. Now on the latest versions, it will ask where the files will be loaded. If you chose the other choice (Not inside PCSX2, because the notice there says don't do it! XD)

It means the real copy of your memory cards isn't in the PCSX2 folder anymore. It's somewhere else.
maybe that is the PS2 memory card problem.

If need good PS2 memory card , pls contact me.

yes that's because you don't have formated you memory card first go on your pcsx2 then you shall select no disc so run cdvd fast and then your pcsx2 will open a browser and a system configuration select browser and then select your memory card so it will says that your memory card it's not formated so you will format it selecting yes and then you can use mymc normally

I spent almost an hour trying to get the wrong folder in the wrong location to work, thank you for specifying that it's wherever the install location was when initially installing ePCSXe2
