MediEvil Crash/Freeze on Level 4

I have the PAL version of MediEvil and have made an image file of it in order to run it on epsxe, which works, for a bit. I can get to the fourth level, hilltop mausoleum, but it crashes before beginning that level. I am aware this is common and believe it's the fault of the copy protection and can be fixed easily with the use of a playstation patch file but can't seem to find one. :(
If I can sort this with a PPF where can I find the one I'm looking for? If not, what can I do to fix this?

no ppf needed if you rip to CCD.

mdf is an alcohol format, there should be a tutorial in that link from my previous post. it sounds odd that .cdd isnt working though, that should work fine in regards to bypassing the copy protection. are you mounting the image onto a virtual drive or are you just using the runISO option from epsxe's GUI?

Right...
Well I've now tried both my CCD and MDF, mounting them to Alcohol 120% as BigIg suggests and running them from a virtual drive but no difference is made. The game seems to run fine, but I can't run level 4...

enable the logger in the GUI (run>enable logs), start the game and get to this part where it stops working, then press the esc key and post what it says in the output window (looks like an MS-DOS/command prompt style window) here.

also make sure you are not loading from save states when troubleshooting problems like this, as they can actually be the cause of it in some cases.

Code:
 * Running ePSXe emulator version 1.7.0.
 * Memory handlers init.
 * ePSXe: PSX BIOS loaded [bios\scph1001.bin].
 * Init cdrom ... ok
 * Cdrom open...  ok
 * Force PAL cdrom detected. (SCES_003.11)
 * Doing init gpu[0]...
 * Gpu open[0]...
 * Direct input init ok.
 * Doing spu init...
 * Spu open...
That's the log up until it freezes.
I've used my save game for that because I don't yet have the time to get that far from beginning. If it's still nessersary I'll have to do so tomorrow...

Had the same problem. Only way it worked was putting my original disc into my CD Burner and enabling subchannel read. No images at all would work, strangely they did in 1.6.

Must be a subchannel problem with the new version? v:(v

Hi, I also own the PAL version and no matter what patch I tried to use I could find no workaround to get The Hilltop Mausoleum to work on ePSXe, however after switching to Duckstation, a better emulator in my opinion, I ran into the same problem but this guys video legit helped me out, I thought it was impossible to play the PAL English version unless it's straight off a CD Rom, but nope, if you follow his video you will be able to play PAL MediEvil with an iso file. :D
