Maxing out CD perfomance

Is there anyway to max out CD perfomance when running the emu, besides making iso.
During gameplay game would run fine; then it would stutter for awhile(the light on the cdrom is orange, and music stutter)
The best cdrom plugin that reduces this problem i think is cdrTsgMSCD plugin.
I also set my cdrom for optimize access patter to (No read-ahead)
If I put it to DMA (direct memory access) will this increase cd performance?

suck it and see:D

experminent with those settings that you said. By switching them off you slow down the drive. In some cases the drive could be too fast and this could help. Also you could download cd throttle. Its available around here somewhere.
Try the cd-plugin from Barrett-Kazzuya (available bei psxemu). It's the only cd-plugin that gets 50 fps in the mdec of GT2 PAL in my system. ALL other plug-ins stop by 45 fps und don't let the music play correctly.

NB: in the theory, DMA must always be on. But I havn't personnally seen any differences between on or off. So if ON doesn't make problems in your system, leave it ON ;)
Hear this:eek: . We in need of a new CD-ROM plugin:eek:
It is the only plugin that never got updated:confused: . WHY?!

Yes ice2hot, windows sets the DMA automatically for you.
Bubsy, actually we did get a new CD plugin when they gave us the internal ones. I have found that internal CD plugin is the most compatable for me. Perhaps the ePSXe team will attempt to improve it in the future, we'll just have to wait and see.
sincerely,
sx/amiga
you can find cd throttle under misc tools at psxemu.com

yes, off in my case, I turned it on, really made a difference for me...
I didn't see that much of a change on the internal CD plugin:( , thats why I'm using Barrett Kazzuya CDR Driver 1.1, well to me it runs not bad, then the other CD plugin's. Well I hope they improve the internal CD plugin, on the next ePSXe release.
Well petes just made a new cdr plugin, maby ill try that and see what happens.

Oh yeah, my DMA was off (default)
Well I tried petesCDr plugin...dont seem to work for me, it crashes and escape back to the desktop.
Well I did turn on DMA and it improve cd performance.
If version 1.0 doesn't work for you try 1.2. It worked for me:) !
