so,

I have a friend whom I met in the past month. He held his birthday party and I got drunk and spewed on myself while sitting in his recliner. He had to clean me up and his girlfriend had to clean my puke.

They are quite heavily involved in martial arts, and this is where I know them. He has been involved in judo for at least 15 years and in karate for the last 6-7. Any ideas for a gift that I could give them for the desecration I brought onto their house?

no weapons? in okinawan gojo-ryu? yeah there are many farm type weapons. iirc, he's trained in forms using the katana, a weapon just like the "night stick", a few mace type weapons. We will be taking a trip out to philadelphia to meet a karate grandmaster and get training with an "oar" kata, im buying a fighting oar just for that :).

But, in talking to my other sensei, I've decided to offer help cleaning or working on his house. The next morning the recliner was already clean, I believe, fortunately, that I caught most of the vomit in my lap.

My favorite gift is a set of Throwing Knives. Everyone I given a set loved it. Though if they've been on Martial art forms that uch as Judo and Karate, they might not like it as much, since it doesn't fit with the style. I guess helping out is the best idea. For an appeasement gift, stick with something else. Unless you can afford a gi. :D

If you want to buy katana, buy Hanwei Practical Plus Katana. Cheapest functional katanas you can get. Its about 260$. If you live in EU, get Practical Pro Katana since its cheaper for some reason. (130 enlishg £) Practically same sword with longer handle and beefier blade, and slightly different tsuba. If you need info, i'll say what are honest and reputable places to buy them.

Pair of Sai's or Nunchaku (they are farm tools originally, you know...) might be better deal though. I know only one place in EU that sells them, never given much thought where they are sold in america or otherwise outside EU...
