I just installed Mandriva on this laptop, and so far it is simply great. I see that it is generally advised to use a firewall in Linux, even considering it's inherent extra security.

So, what I want to know is if Mandriva has already one preinstalled. If so is true, do I need to activate it or tweak something? If not, which firewall would you reccomend?

Right now, (most likely all) Linux distros have an integrated firewall. There's one in Mandriva, too.

Here is a short guide on how to tweak it. Link is a bit old, but should handle the job. I'm a Ubuntu user and I've never needed to tweak a firewall. I've never used Mandriva, but go and see what will show up.
