Yea well im finally getting a new dell computer (9100 series) and i had a question. Im initially gonna get 512 mb ddr2 ram and i was wondering if i should buy more ram later off of newegg, or should i just buy the upgrade to 1gb for about $130 more

Its DEFINETLY cheaper to buy later on extra 512 memorychip. 130$, thats a robbery. However, i dunno if warranty allows you to add anything yourself, so you might be on your own if something goes wrong.
I think buying from New Egg would save you alot more money. I would buy it later since its easy to install on a desktop.
