Im buying a new comptuer soon! finally! problem is, all i want is a new processor ( currently have a amd athlon~900mhz) i want the amd athlon 64 3400 for $214 at newegg. My parents just want to buy a whole new computer from dell which is like $1000 dollars. Which i think is a complete waste of money. Anyways, Id like to know how much it would cost to build my own computer probably getting parts from newegg.

Heres the specs I want

-Amd Athlon 64 3400 or equal w/fan and heatsink
-DDR2 512 mb.
-Any average Lcd Flatscreen moniter
-Average keyboard+mouse
-average speaker system+sound card nothing spectacular
-average computer case

And i think tahts all. Btw i already have my video card bought, so theres no need for that. its an Nvidia Geforce 5500fx 256 mb

here you go also i advice u return that 5500, its just a OCed 5200 and the 5200 is too slow to really make use of the 256mb ram, its called marketing they know people will buy the cards based on the ram on the card it self instead of the card performance.

The PSU is needed for the mobo the mobo req a True ATX 2.0 12volt psu not a 20 pin 23029watts but a true ATX 2.0 12V.

Also the mobo is the best PCIE 939 mobo you can get. the XL matches the 6800GT some games the 6800GT edge out and some games the XL edges out.

atm the X800XL PCIE(279) is the cheaper then the PCIE 6800GT(350) Both will play games great.

also you can just oc the cpu past a 3400+. jus lower the ram divier down and regain it by ocing the cpu. u can get past the 3400+ with ease. on a stock cooler

Also Amd is not gonna have DDR2 for a while and DDR2 has higher lageny then DDR1 and use higher CL. which you dont want to use with a AMD.

This what i recommand.

1000 bucks for a barebone system without optic drive or capture cards. Man I don't know how many computers you've built but I can find all all those parts for under 700 bucks with some to spare.
i went by this 1000 that he said he never did give a real budget. if he did then the part list would be diffent.

all you did is talk and attacked me thats all you did. i built more computers and made more part list then you.

i not gonna give him cheap no name mobo, ram and psu to keep the prices down, you dont want to get cheap no name ram psu and mobo. thats 3 parts that you dont want to get cheap no name brand for. cuz it will come bak and bite you in the butt.

Heres one for a 700 dollar budget if he used his current card but i dont recommand that he does use his current card . this is to prove to you that i can, while u haven proved it. change the cpu to a64 2800 754 and a mobo then it can get under 500. also where you list that you said you can do.
