I tried to search several pages back for the solution but I had no luck. Things start off fine when I start to use the emulator but when I hit ESC to go back to the PSXeven menu and then hit continue to resume where I was, a loud hissing noise starts and doesn't seem to stop. I really don't know what is causing this and I was hoping some of you might know the cause and the solution to this problem. Thanks.

does the noise stop when you close PSXeven? is the sound coming out of your speakers, or out of your computer? what happens when you try a different emulator? (i.e. ePSXe) try updating your sound card drivers.

Yes, it does stop. It's coming out of my speakers. Actually, the game I'm running doesn't run with the other emulator I tried (which was ePSXe).

It is possible that my sound card is out of date. Do you think that could be it?

I had all of the plugins for it. I really didn't understand why it wasn't working. I was trying to run the ISO of Chrono Cross. See, it would start working perfectly fine but when I selected 'New Game' and chose not have vibrate on the screen fades (like it's suppose to) and then nothing. It was quite frustrating.

My computer has plenty of power the problem is with my RAM (a pathetic 256 MB) and GFX card (Nvidia GeForce 2 MX 400 64 MB). I really need to get both of those small details up to date.

The sound could be from electrical interference caused by things like phones. Though I'm not sure if that's the issue. There are many possibilities for hissing speakers, isolating it is unlikely, but I've a quick question. Does the sound occur consistently? Does it occur in things such as headphones?

same hissing problems

Hello, I downloaded a copy of 0.19 today, and I got the same problem. I am playing FF9, and it was working perfectly, then I saved the game, exited and loaded the game slot. Now the loaded game has a hissing noise in the background ;( I have tried rebooting, saving the game in different places and in different slots, but no joy. It's a bit annoying as the noise is unbearable, but FF9 is not something I could possibly play through the whole way without saving once.

Starting a new game gets rid of the hissing noise, and the hissing noise does not affect any other applications. I've got a brand new Sony Vaio laptop, P4, 1GB memory etc, with the latest drivers - at the moment I am using the default sound configs in psxeven. Should I change to something else and if so, what plug in? Also if someone has had this problem and knows how to fix it and salvage the saved game slot that would be great.. I played for 4hrs before I saved it ;(

I had that same problem running Vandal Hearts 2. Everything would work fine until I changed windows. After that, I would have this hissing noise coming through the speakers.

I've gotten around this issue by doing a quick save and a quick load. (I.E. Press F1 then F3). It makes the hissing noise stop every time I try it...

Give that a try.

Yes, Save States would more than likely be the best and quickest solution. I figured they'd work as a last result, but most people like their little memory cards.
