As some of u may already know, but for the people who dont the new legend of zelda game will be coming this october. Link's motive in this game is that one of his friends got kidnapped by this wierd monster, forcing link to go on his adventure. this game is not wind waker 2. :D

first off im not really new new here and, second off i did use the search button but didnt find anything on it (although i have seen them.) and finally i think in wind waker that link is too cartoonish and the part where he has a sister was never mentioned in the other games(ocarina of time, majora's mask etc.) :cuss2: :akimbo: :shockwhor
did you miss the whole beginning of the game. It's not the same link. It's been like hundreds of years since OoT and MM. It's been so long that noone even remembers hirule. On the topic of it being cartoonish i agreed with you at first but the more i got in the game the more i agreed that the cell shaded graphics works surprisingly well.

You should know that the Links in the other games aren't the same as Link in wind waker. Second, what the point to this thread, e3 has been over. I'm closing this thread... Damn this none admin status, I will use my Jedi mind powers to shut it down!

*edit i was beaten to the punch!
i dont get the deal with people always saying "oooh, zelda looks too cartoonish! you should make it look real!" for frigs sake it started off cartoonish and was meant to be because it is a g-rated adventure game meant for people age 5 and up (only because kids under 5 might eat the controller). Cartoony graphics fit the title more than realistic ones. It's like remaking Curse of monkey island or grim fandango with real looking models
There is something to be said about the look of OOT though compared to WW. WW is friggin drop dead gorgeous in the sense that it really does look like a cartoon. But at that same time having those types of visuals sort of dictates how difficult a game will be. If it's going to look like that they're going to make it for that 5 & up crowd you're talking about. OOT was and still is a much more difficult game than WW (some of the puzzles in the dungeons are downright arbitrary in nature, everything in WW made sense).

And I played WW all the way through before I did OOT (I never owned a 64, saw my friend play bits of OOT but thats it). And in the end OOT is a better game - wether thats the visuals or the game itself we'll find out when this next one comes. I'm really hoping that it retains the challenge that OOT had. It's probably the most whacked out version of all Zelda games - usually I don't even get close to death, OOT I actually died twice.

Anyway I really loved the visuals in WW but that was the only thing to love. And like I said, I doubt they could up the challenge level with cartoony graphics if only because they sort of dictate who your main audience will be. It's not a gritty look like Jet Grind Radio, its very disney channel.

And about which fits better? I think that OOT's is more close to the SNES & NES versions - you just have the difference of being an adult instead of a kid in the first and 3rd. Capcom made the game cartoony with their Oracle of Ages & Seasons games on gameboy and its seemed to retain that sort of look through to the GBA & Foru Swords and then WW. It's a bit refreshing that its returning to its old look so to speak.

And, none of the Zelda games from Nintendo have you playing the same Link or saving the same Zelda. It's like a never ending saga in the same land modified over time.

I dont agree with having a new link over and over again. how many people would be named Link. and anyways what about all the zelda games with zelda in it do all of the "other links" know about her? it just doesn't fit u know? :hdbash: :)
well, just imagine it as each game being in a different dimension with same people and slightly similar characteristics, happy? no? well its a kids game suck it up, you never complained about seeing pacman in different games did you ? :p

i think you're underestimating some kids these days ;) seriously though kids were a lot dumber back in the day, nowadays you can give a 5 year old a problem which a 10 year old wouldn't have been able to solve a while back, people in general are getting smarter especially in the pattern recognition category, you can ask boltz or proto or someone like that about it. At any rate, cartoony graphics dont necessarily mean its meant for tiny kids, the minish cap artwork looked a lot like windwakers, and the game itself looked like a wacky abstract cartoon (in a good way) but it still had some challenging puzzles

Eiji Aonuma specifically states that every Link is a unique Link:

http://www.n-sider.com/articleview.php?articleid=307

look for the question "Q: How many different Links are there? It seems that this Link is not the same as the one in Ocarina of Time."
Wind Waker is one of the best looking games ever made.

Actually, it's pretty much one of the best-looking ANYTHINGs ever made.
Link's motive in this game is that one of his friends got kidnapped by this wierd monster, forcing link to go on his adventure. this game is not wind waker 2.
Not WW2 in graphics wise (thought with Cellshading you can make very adultish graphics too. Anime style or other), but isnt this Link in Twilight Princess same Link that was in WW, just adult, or atleast his bloodline waaaay in future? Is it kinda sequal that they are no longer in Hyrule cuz they ended sailing to search a new land or something...

Hey, wait a sec. What about oot and majora's mask? I think it's the same one. Must be.
OoT and MM have the same Link, but that was done from a financial point of view because OoT was exceedingly successful. But I must say no one really noticed it was a different Link until it was actually said in the WW intro.

And it is totally wrong to say that the WW graphics are childish; a few weeks back I overheard some bums discussing WW... that freaked me out.
wasn't link's memory erased at the end of OoT once he saved hyrule and then he was sent back to being a kid, and then he also was in MM too. Or were they 2 seperate ones?
sucks... all that work and no zelda booty.

I guess MM was a continuation... there was no zelda in MM.

Just because something is childish in presentation doesn't mean its a negative thing. Disney cartoons are childish by nature as well. It's meant for kids first and their families of course. Just like WW - don't take that in a bad way, Disney cartoons are great. you might hear those same bums talkign about Fantasia, or Lion King...does that mean those aren't childish?

It's only bad if you think childish things are bad. It's definitley not mature or adult...what else would you call it? WW was much easier than OOT - and I do believe that has something to do with the visuals dictating it's challenge. Yeah TMC was similar in appearnce to WW and again it was easier than LTTP...like way easier, and shorter. But that was made by Capcom so it doesn't really count, since all of their Zelda games are easy as pie.

Anyway, just because something is childish doesn't mean adults can't enjoy it. In fact that's part of the charm with disney cartoons. It is cute and reminds you of being a kid. Just as entertaining as any other movie that comes out. It's a little irritating to see people say something isn't childish when it clearly is, only because they think childish has bad connotations implied. That would be "kiddy" :p.

Oh, and yeah OOT and MM did have the same link - thats the only zelda game from nintnedo with the same one. And no they're not all named link, which is why you always put your name in and are referred to as your own name. Unless you always put link you'll see another name. My character is alwasy my first name ;).

Nah, I'm not underestimating them. I never said they couldn't finish OOT. Just that games designed for kids are simpler than those not. Obviously the older Zelda games were designed for kids too, but really WW is just so overly simplified its crazy. Before you had Navi giving you clues, now you have both your boat and fish giving clues. None of the puzzles in WW confuse anybody, they're simple and straightforward. Really I'm just knocking WW's challenge, not the kids who play it.
The Lion King is childish but it is one of the best movies in my opinion. I didn't like Wind Waker because it was too hyped and sorta dissapointed me. It was definitely a good game but I would have enjoyed it more if it was a little darker. They say that this one is going to be more grown up so I'm looking forward to it.
Resident Evil 4, The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime is the reason I acquired my gamecube. Twilight Princess is probably going to be the last great game in the gamecube since nintendo already started to work on the revolution. For what I have seen is going to be a great game. I wonder how controlling link as a wolf going to be?
