At a certain point in Helena Prison, my game always glitches up and i get this black screen. The music is still playing, but its really buggy. I honestly have no idea what to do. Can you guys help out?

PS. It freezes near the beginning when you enter Helena Prison. Right after you meet the merchant and fight the first guard, you exit that area, and you come into a room with 2 guards patrolling. On the far right side, there are stairs there and a room at the top. The game glitches when I try to enter that room.

unless you are already doing so, try playing from the disc and see if it stil freezes. if you are saving/loading with save states, stop doing so and create a memory card save and load from it instead. another thing that could rule out some possible causes would be to test the game on another version of epsxe or even better- a different emulator altogether (psx would be the most effective to test with because plugins would not be able to influcence anything).

edit- and in case they are needed later on, please post your system specs, plugin setup and a screenshot of your current video config.

edit- Apparently I need the PPF patch. I went to the link, but it was broken. Where can I find another one?

did you try any of the things i suggested earlier? if its a PAL version of the game we are talking about here then making an image of the disc in a format like .ccd/.img/.sub should stop the copy protection from spazzing out.
