Someone tried to tell me this WASN'T an illegal emulation forum, I find it hard to believe, especially considering you have forums regarding Xbox and PS2 emulation, how could anyone possibly make this claim?

Yes it is, Xbox and PS2 are products available for sale on the market, trying to get it for free is most definatley illegal. Not to say there's a problem with that, I completely condone illegal activity, what I'm wondering is why you're trying to claim to be legal and legislating certain illegal activity on the forum. Emulation itself is not illegal, at the very least not discussing it.
You will notice there are NO links to files or any files on the site which are considered illegal such as bios copies, commercial roms or ISO files.
This site deals with the development of the emulation world itself and not the pirate point of view to it, which you might have been participating in.
In any case, such discussions about illegal materials are not allowed on this site and forum and should now therefor stop.

EDIT: Just read your post. You are aware, that if you own the original product, which IS neccesary for running most emulators as you need your own copy of the machine's BIOS, you probably are allowed to use emulators for such matters as PERSONAL usage.

I'm a pirate, and I don't ****ing use PS2 and Xbox emulators. Or any emulators for that matter. For current hardware, it's not a ****ing feasible method of piracy.

Go sling some crackrock, blackie, this is my hood.

you are most definately undeniably the most misinformed moron i have ever had the unfortunate pleasure of listening to. Downloading Roms, Downloading Bios, Downloading PC games are illegal. Dumping your own bios, BUYING pc games, and dumping your own roms are all activities which are not illegal, and ways to emulate your games, i reccomend you do your homework (or at least read the damn rules) before taking on an entire community that's been using emualtion for many years.

EDIT: Well a few people beat me to it, oh well :p

XBox and PS2 emulation is legal. As I said, there are perfectly legal ways to do both. Emulation is not about getting games for free. Its about the development, and emulation of hardware in software mode for use on other platforms. As such, there are legal ways of obtaining the proper software (IE: BIOS) to do the emulation. I myself, have obtained the PS2 BIOS legally by dumping it through naplink. I use my actual PS2 DVD-Roms to play it. Get a clue about emulation before you claim we are doing things illegaly.

On a side note, while many of the members here do participate in illegal activities, those discussions are left for other places. No site with a presence in a country where copyright infringement is illegal would be stupid enough to condone such activities if it wished to stay around for an extended period of time.

To add what Chaos Blade said, So far there are no laws against emulating hardware, and probably will never be. It's about the games and PS2 especially is easy ... Pop a game into your DVD-Rom drive and voila! Wanna tell me what's illegal now?

well obviously if you OWN the game, but who downloads an emulator to play a game they already own? Emulation applies to mostly unlawful interest, promotion of it IS illegal.

My PSX is broken, i now use all my old PSX cd's on my computer. My old SNES games i have in a closet somewhere, i can play them online with an emulator (along with PSX). I'm sorry, but this is an arguement you can't win. And Promotion of a legal activity isn't illegal :p. and Emulation IS legal.

Okay, I've had about enough of this. You're an idiot. Promotion of legal emulation IS NOT illegal. I'm not quite sure where you're going with this. We are a LEGAL emulation forum. We promote LEGAL emulation. We DO NOT promote emulation utilizing illegal materials. There I just spelled it out for you.

Sorry, just had to add this: if what you said were true, CD burners, Tape recorders, Video recorders, in fact basicaly any recording equipment would be illegal because it can be used for illegal purposes (copying a game, movie, music).
