Hello. Anybody played KH RE: CoM? If so can you tell me how to optimize the PCSX2 to play it better? I have few problems.
1. The FMV`s subtitles are going faster than the diagogues
2. Some FMVs freez after they end (usually the ones when Sora and Donald and Goofy are talking after entering different floors)
3. I had no music with SPUX2 but now I am using PeOP spu and everything is OK.
4. I am using the latest versions with the new gui.
Thanx :)

1.The FMV's in this are prerecorded video's, they aren't ingame rendered like the ones from KH/KH2
2. Seems to be a hack issue
3. Seems to be a speed / frameskipping issue.
4. The new GUI does not have memcard support and is not meant for actual playing.

Thanks, Squall. I`ve saw some tweaks but lost the link a few weeks ago in some jap site. It was made with screenshots and gave it playability over 90%. There was some screenshots but I lost the link :( I`ve attached an example but that`s for Radiata game on PS2.. there was something simillar to KH RE:CoM.

I think the biggest problem is the current loss of audio at random.

it might require time stretching or something.

Another issue? Haven`t seen that one... gotta try it when I get to my gaming machine... Good info.

I found it to be a catch 22 with even PEOPS's plugin in this game pivoting around "thread mode". I have experimented extensively with this trying to find the best combination.

P.E.O.P.S Thread mode off:
- Skippy FMV's with audio that frequently goes out of sync
- Possibility of crashing right at the end of an FMV -> (You may want to watch first and then if it crashes, skip the FMV after reloading)
- In-game audio is fine and the game is perfectly stable (outside of FMVs).

P.E.O.P.S Thread mode on:
- FMV's play flawlessly and crashing at the end is gone
- in-game audio starts out alright but audio underruns can occur causing sudden audio choppiness (fixed by savestating and reloading)
- Possibility to crash at any time during gameplay outside of FMV's (!!)

SPU2-X:
- FMV's play perfectly (no crashing)
- In-game is fine (once again, no crashing)
- No Music except in some rare instances as said above where it kicks in for a bit until the song changes.

What I am hoping is that the bug with SPU2-X that causes missing music is fixed as it appears to be the most promising plugin of the two (at least it won't crash the emulator at any point). Me personally, I'm waiting patiently until this is resolved. Unfortunately I can't play this on my original hardware since the game won't save to my memory card (a problem I don't have with any of my other games).

As for animaXion's problem. I thought that was eliminated since v0.94. Before that, you would just get a grey screen and it'd hang there.

Great info. Thanks a lot, Djnforce9
No problem. Hopefully it helps isolate the issue somehow. I was really surprised how much trouble this game has in terms of audio as I thought it used the exact same engine as Kingdom Hearts II since it was originally bundled as an extra with KH2 Final Mix in Japan and later released standalone in North America (which is the version I bought).

Yes, same here. So I decided to post a thread to see if anybody has the same issues.

I`ve tested everything without speedhacks and with MICRO VUs all modes. Maybe some speedhacks are needed for proper gaming?
but what is the reulst of your test? did it went well?

Hm... now that you mention it.... I`ll say something off-topic:
I`ve had problems with Castlevania: Curse of darkness, when played with MICRO VU (default) /the new GUI PCSX2es/ it gave me a weird graphical issues and it was not playable, almost nothing visible. When I turned to LEGACY VUs it was gone. This is the same to the PCSX2 old gui, enabling/disablng Micro VUs, enables/disables graphical bugs.
So.. back to KH Re: CoM, animaXion, since I have almost the same rig as yours ([email protected] and nVidia 9800 GT) most of the games are running at 60fps (manual set) so I`ve never tested speed hacks but... I recall something, Guilty Gear Accent Core X, it frozes on the AKSYSTEM logo and enabling 2xCycle hack solved that freezing with no visible ingame differences... But for now I have not tested KH but I most definitely will asap or when I get to my gaming pc.

Too bad that they didn't post a video on that site at the very least. I am curious to know if they did get background music working somehow considering how they are suggesting the use of SPU2-X.

Also, I can't see speedhacks increasing compatibility in any way. I would suggest shutting all of them off and seeing if the grey screen persists. It really shouldn't be there if running PCSX2 v0.96.

Fortunately like all Kingdom Hearts games, this one I relatively light on CPU requirements compared to most other PS2 games. That CPU-Z screenshot only shows a 2.1Ghz Dual core and yet he still gets full speed. Lastly, if you have a directx 10 compatible video card, be sure to use it for better results (the person who made this guide probably did not). If you have the newest version of the GPU plugin you can even use the Directx 11 API (I wonder if it'll ever support multi-core rendering).

Now that you mention it... did they underclock it? No idea there was [email protected] Ghz... the default is @ 2.8Ghz... are there different cpus in asia?! Now I am all confused... And why really so many speed hacks... wonder what do they mean? And why DX9 if they are using Vista (judging by the frames)... and what a res... 2000x1500 :O Freezin` hell!
