well i decided to get back into my FF8 (which i had had trouble w/ on disc 2, text was messed up) and had recently gotten a new video card. IT's a geforceMX4000 definitly not the best, but i had no choice on this one. Anyway, running

VIDEO: petes opengl 2.6 (set to fast at the moment in an effort to get it to run)
CDROM: peops 1.4

i've got a 2.4ghz p4 w/ 512mb ram. It's a older dell (a 8250) and has been running slow recently.

i get no video at all, and am unsure the thing is even running. My sound debug screen comes up, but it shows no sound.

use OGL1.75 with that (crappy) videocard. also, try making an iso. and since you said your computer has been running slow, well, you might want to defrag or get rid of some spyware perhaps or even reformat.

All the PSX downloads can be got at www.ngemu.com/psx
ePSXe 1.5.2 is the best for running FF8. 1.6.0 has issues with most Square games

alright 1.75 got it running. But, i'm back to my garbled text problem on disc 2. I have the iso creation program-but i don't know exactly how to work it. And my discs are fine, just small very weak insignificant scratches from normal useage.

a pic for reference.
