jDoom II Hi-res textures

I've been playing a lot on Doom II recently using jDoom from www.doomsdayhq.com and the graphics, enviorment, resourse and UI packs from www.jfiles.org (the detail texture pack on doomsdayHq is nice, but really does not compare to the DTP from jFiles)
If anyone has any requests for shots from certain areas on certain levels, give me a holler (I ask, because my old geForce3 gets 3FPS with the DTP and DEP enabled)
Have a look at how nice it all looks:

Good looking, but doom remake (using doomsday engine) has better looking weapons.
And where's that? I saw an alternative weapons pack, but it wasn't that great...
I got it from bittorrent long time ago. It has died out now. I can probaply send those wads, depending how big they are. Hold on...

*edit* It wasnt a wad file that gave it new weapons, but some darn DED file that made doomsday engine use separate models for weapons. oO
Like I said, there are alternate models: are these the ones you meant (This is Abbs model pack) If so, as I mentioned, I was unimpressed. Not but the models themselves, but the animations. The animations in the DRP are such higher quality.
Yes, its that. I was kinda impressed by Minigun model of that abbs pack. Looked much better than dooms standard "chaingun" with thick barrels, but only 50cm long. With this minigun model on it came my fav weapon.
With the alternate pistol mode, making it much more powerful, yes it was good, but the problem is that that and the BFG are the only good weapon models compared to the default pack IMO
Hold on a sec. My abbs pack had a models for BFG and Plasma rifle that were 100% faithfull to originals. Ones in your pics look MUCH better. oO

*EDIT* Also, about FPS issue, did you tick on 'use texture compression' (requires OpenGL)? It should increase speed alot. In my pack its off by default, and it lagged like hell in big levels.

That's Abbs v3 pack from DoomsdayHQ
For comparison, here are shots of all the DRP weapon models.

Yes I did try the optimisations. Incidently, in D3D, my current card with 4x4x in 1280x960 has a tendancy to drop as low as 30FPS. Same settings in OpenGL run at a constant 85.2FPS (Thats vsync for ya ;))
Oh man, that shotgun looks truly ass kicking. I wonder if it can be forced manually in abbs pack. Abbs hunting shotgun looks terribly boring.

85 fps with all addon packs on? oO
It caps at that as that is my monitor refresh rate. For some reason I can't force off vsync at the mo. It sits at 85.2FPS all the time, regardless of hte amount of monsters on screen or the size of the room.

As for how the packs look, just try using hte default DRP from doomsdayhq without Abbs pack on. The weapons are so much better animated.
The only thing missing in those shots I think is a nice dose of anisotropic filtering (hint: 16x) :p.
Meh, I stick with 4x4x for everything I play. It means I don't nead to faff around in the CP.
Just to note, the first shots where before I had set my card up right after reinstalling Windows. I noticed the banding antd thought 'ug', so I made sure the settings were locked on High Quality/4x4x for the next batch.
It's easier to set a profile for games like Splinter Cell that don't support it than to add one for every game which does.
before i play a game i open the Nvidia control panel and change the settings. after the game i set everything back to application controlled. some games, like CS:S, i dont need to change anything, some games i need to change settings. it takes 10 seconds and it makes a big difference :)
IMO this game is ugly. There's no amount of hires texture that can hide those low polygon count. Its like the whole game just uses one big box and slap some walls in.

Hey, this is DOOM engine. It forces new things on good old original doom WAD engine, so it cannot do miracles.
Indeed. It's such a massive jusmp from the original look. Bilinear filtering, 3d models, high res textures, dynamic lighting, optional fog, 3d sound, and more.
i knew about that for a long time , been using it for long long long time. i had like almost all of the 3dmodels. effects, and other stuff. aswell having the high texture pack.
