interesting link, but it breaks the [rules]board's rules[/rules] because that site has all kinds of illegal stuff, i.e. how to circumvent copy protection and whatnot...

i dont think that actual thread is illegal though, for those of you who arent going to be able to look at the link, basically it's saying that by messing with the CD pre-gap you can "trick" the PSX into thinking that it has the PSX's copy protection when it doesnt...

anyway, it's still a lot of work to play *cough* "backup" games, i never really saw the purpose of backups, just keep your original CDs in good condition :rolleyes:

the only way I know to circumvent the copyprotection (without mod chips or hacks) involves a q-tip and a gameshark. My friend eventually broke his PS1 this way though.

Playing "backups" (I keep the originals) just isn't worth it if you take care of your CD's.

If you use an emulator, you can play your legal backups no problem.
