i want to play DBZ Tenkaichi 3 on my comp.

pc specs:

Intel P5B Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.13ghz E6420 Conroe CPU (not overclocked)
Asus 9800GT 512MB
2GB of DDR2 ram
23" Dell LCD Monitor

the AVG temps i get when nothing is open is around 20-30 Celsius and while playing games like CSS its usually under 35 still.

ive tried playing tenkaichi 3 already but its really laggy :( like 10-20 FPS. i just sold my PS2 last year i dont want to buy another 1.

should i try overclocking the CPU? by how much? and how lol? i dont really know much about this stuff, more than the avg person but not enough to be a nerd :thumb:

Personally, I don't know anything about emulating this particular game, but have you tried different emu/plugins versions, speedhacks?

OCing e6550 from 2.33 to 3.08 gave me additional 5-20 FPS. So, I think it's worth a try.
As to "how do I overclock my CPU?" you'd better google it.

This witch hunting needs to end. For all you know he could have dumped his bios years ago. Regardless, when there's no outright indication of wrongdoing, you have no right to call someone out. If that were a viable course of action, most of our members would be in trouble right now. I've given you an infraction for this post.

I don't know "how low you can go", per se, but in my experience, this game is a little more GPU dependent, at least compared to how other games rely so much more on the CPU than the GPU. I know my CPU at 4GHz runs this game full speed 99% of the time in single core mode, so I wager a ~2.5GHz Core 2 of the same architecture/L2 amount/so on could do it in dual core mode. I don't know how much those things affect speed in this game, so since the Conroe is less than the Wolfdale, let's bump that up a couple hundred MHz. I'd say try 2.7GHz/2.8GHz and see how it goes? You'd obviously have to learn to overclock first, but I'd imagine/hope that it would work full speed.

For now, post your configuration of your CPU and video setup. I specifically ask to make sure the MTGS/dual core option is checked, and to make sure you're using video settings your GPU can handle for this game.

I don't know why I deserved what just happened, by looking at his comment it seemed as if he didn't possess the PS2 console no more, and according to how the rules goes, the BIOS can only be used when u actually physically possess the console, so basically he wouldn't have the right to use it.

Nevertheless, I guess I'm wrong though a warning seemed more appropiate than what I gotten.

@ aussie123: The first thing u have to do is download Orthos or Prime95 and stress test ur CPU to the max to see if OCing is within ur reach. If u are using the stock cooler, then just use a small increment in the FSB since raising the FSB much can result in u ruining ur system, I'll see if I can find u a good guide at the OC forum and post it here so u can follow the steps provided.

and i overclocked my cpu to 2.51ghz from 2.13 and its still laggy + it flickers ALOT! fps is at like 1-5 when a match is starting when it zooms over the crowd.. :(

trying that Orthos thingo

would i have to have a good psu for that? i only have a thermaltake TR2 550W

also how long does this orthos thing take? its at Test 7 15 mins into it

it never ends lol, it is just a program to stress the CPU to the max, usually 1 hour is adequate. The test is to see if ur OC is stable or not, and to check the temperature u get while ur CPU is being stress for a while. Open RealTemp or any other good Temp monitoring program to see what temps u are getting while u stress test ur CPU.

If windows freezes, the comp restarts, or u noticed anything weird going on with ur Windows while stressing ur CPU then it is a unstable OC.

No, it's not bad. If you still got bad results with that clock speed, then post your configuration. There's got to be some sort of bottleneck elsewhere.

By the way, I just remembered something. Another user with the ASUS P5B didn't get very far with overclocking their CPU due to what we pretty much narrowed down to the motherboard. You likely might not be able to go too much further than where you have gotten so far.

As for the PSU, I don't think it'd limit your overclock around those clock speeds. However, any PSU labeled "Thermaltake TR2" is not so good. It's basically a rebadged PSU (the one it's rebadged off of is known to be a less than stellar one), but admittedly, the 430 watt version seems to hold up to more than one would think, and owners of it seem rather satisfied (surprisingly so), and the stories of it actually failing in the real world don't seem so widespread, so don't feel compelled to run out and replace it or anything. Just be careful. Know that it is not a beefy PSU, and it is likely overrated.

Do note that, despite this, the PC I assembled for my brother ended up with the 430 watt Thermaltake TR2 PSU in it, and it also has a Thermaltake TR2 socket 478 CPU cooler in it (system is a Pentium 4 2.8GHz w/ Hyper-threading, 2x1GB DDR RAM, a GeForce 6800GS AGP, and a single SATA 320GB HDD). Both Thermaltake TR2 products are working very well, so I guess that's what matters.
