Is it possible to run game without CD

Hello everyone, I wonder if it is possible to run game without CD in CDRom drive ?
I used the virtualdrive software to burn an image of the CD game, such as Valkyrie CD. In WinMe I used the pete's CD plugin, it worked perfectly. But in Win2K, it was a black window appear and no error message was displayed.
Did someone know the resolution, please help me.

don't use Nero to make images of PSX games.

if you want to make an image of a game, ISObuster is a great program, http://www.isobuster.com/ or ISOproducer too: http://www.aldostools.com/isoproducer.html
