I am getting a new laptop that has an integrated video card but I fear that it has no hardware T&L. It's a nice Tablet PC too. Mobile athlon xp 2200+, 512mb pc2700 ram and SiS graphics. My question is.....will my laptops lack of hardware T&L prevent me from using PCSX2? Thanks in advance for your replys.

I hate to sound like a newb, but what's T&L?

And at Refraction, why wouldn't Gsdx work well on that laptop, but GsSoft would? It has really good RAM, and the processor is ok. The graphics card isn't great at all, but I thought the graphics card wouldn't really be a major factor in PS2 emulation since there's a software render mode.

Again, sorry for sounding like a computer newb...

To my knowledge, gssoft is software only and gsDX is hardware directx only. T&L is Transform and Lighting. Having hardware T&L in the graphics card takes a load off the work that the CPU originally has to do. Software T&L is much slower. So basically most geforce 1 and above graphics cards have this feature. Certain graphics card manufacuters tend to skimp on chip abilites. Especially the cheap models. The laptop I want is the Avertec C3500 60GB model. The SiS graphics chip in that laptop (after some research) apparently does not have hardware T&L. So basically Im out of luck from using GSDX....and now I have to use gssoft.

as gotmilk70 said, gsdx9 requires hardware directx 9 support which i doubt a SiS graphics card will have, its like me trying it on my ATi Mach 64 (in which it just laughed at me btw) it just wont work, but GSSoft shouldnt have a problem
