Can't say that is a ripoff of safari. The pictures are of too poor quality to really tell what it looks like. Personally, I'm glad to see Microsoft finally putting some features that users want into their browser. Like it or not, users wanted tabbed browsing, RSS news stuff, etc. Stuff that is already found in other browsers.

Perhaps I am being naive here but why does everyone seem to think that tabbed browsing is so great?

Just why would you need tabbed browsing, it'd only be of any real use if you had 10+ windows open and who would need that many open at one time?

I have a feeling that Tabbed Browsing is going to be one of those great "advancements" that you are supposed to like but no-one can really say why.

Why, you say? It helps lot. You can look though 2-3 websites at once (having more is a bit insane) In IE for the moment you got one window and if you want another one you have to open another Ie window. Tabbing just makes life easier.

About IE7, I heard they done some improvments like a download manger but when i wqas reading about it there was still no sign of tabs used. It was quite a time ago, but i dont think so IE will beat firefox that easily.

But can easily switch between open windows by clicking on them in the taskbar and if I accidently close one of them, all the sites wouldn't go with the closed one, which would happen with tabbed browsing.

I still don't think that tabbed browsing is going to be useful to me but I think I am going to be in the minority on this.

Ummm, IE 6 has a setting, open links in a seperate window. Clicking the IE browser (Named and all) in the tool bar will switch between them...And no useless tabs taking up screen space.
Personally I like my browser with the least amount of clutter possible..
I was even against the search and favorites opening up in a side pane....Stuff like that is just plain annoying...

Not too sure on this one, but i think tabs are CPU friendly :). Having too tabs in firefox must use less memory and cpu than ie in seperate windows. It's just a little theory but i think it's true. And yeah, i agree that it's quite annoying to close all tabs at once but by default you have a window poping up making sure you really want to close it and after some time you get used to it.

To me it's a matter of convience, I can load all the pages of a 10 page review at once and close the one that I have read to see the next one without waiting it to load

It also helps me to open multiple pages from a single one like this forum where I open multiple threads without a new window in my face for every thread opened

I can see the point of the reviews thing slightly, although to be honest you gain no time as the bandwidth now has to be split between loading 10 pages instead of one.

But why would you want more than one thread open at a time, when you can only read and reply to one at a time anyway.

And yep, even though I do have Firefox installed, Internet Explorer is still my main browser. It has a simple, quick and clean interface and does all I need it do.

Well, that's just personal views. I used IE a long time before turning to firefox. I tried things like Crazy Browser but i isn't that good. I actually read a best internet browser test, and out of 8, IE was last. Firefox was 2nd. Dunno how did Opera got 1st, but nevermind.

Open one, let it load, open all the others, go back and read the first one while they are loading. Maybe not a big deal on broadband, but it saves a lot of time on dial-up.

...it does everything a lot of people need... EXCEPT SUPPORT BLOODY WEB STANDARDS. (*&^#&^%$)#&

If IE7 is any better in this regard, it will be worth getting. However, I will still pitch Firefox first and Opera second.

It does help on broadband

Does that include installing spyware?

This is something i'll never understand.

I don't have a Firewall, nor do I run my anti-virus in the background, I only scan when I need to and I run Ad-Aware and Spy-Bot very infrequently.

and yet I have never been hacked, never caught a virus and the only spy-ware I have had is the usual cookies.

So what I don't understand is just what do people do to get them?

I'm afraid I don't know what standards you mean, Internet Explorer displays every site I visit perfectly, something which my Firefox install doesn't do.

These web standards. As in, the ones that actually have a meaning, and are not just defined by whatever quirky way IE decides to display things. IE (<= 6, at least) needs to die, because it is a pain in the ass.

Don't get me wrong - IE 5 was an excellent browser for it's time. However, the web has moved, and Microsoft hasn't. Internet Explorer is a huge anchor holding back good web design. I hope and pray IE 7 will fix these things, but I won't believe it until I see it.
