techPowerUp! News :: Details on Intel's Core Brand Product Placement Emerge, Gulftown to be Named Core i9

BAM. 6 cores, 12 threads. 50% increase in Cache from the i7 so that means 12MB of L3 Cache. 32nm which means great overclocking. Overclocking the i7 is already easy enough. And it all works on the current i7 socket.

And the current Core 2 series chips might be rebranded in i3 chips and sold on the low end market. The Lynnfield is actually going to span across the i7 and i5 market as well.

So there is Intels new line up.

^^ What he said.

Intel already has a way to compare CPU's with the number of stars they give in the "Look for Intel Inside" logo I see in all computer magazines. But it's a great way to lure persuade the unknowing consumer into getting a new CPU. Sucks for the consumer still: Having a first generation e6300 you think you're upgrading to an i3, and it turns out to be a rebranded e5200.
