I have been searching for a while, and there was word that it may be released on PC...it was from GameSpy.

Now, has Konami confirmed if it will be on PC or not? I'd love to know. :)

It would be horrible. Even MGS2's controls were impossible to emulate successfully on PC, and MGS3 took the control scheme to even stranger new places. Trying to play it would be a ridiculous headache.

MGS2 PC is very playable if you have a decent dual-shock like gamepad, but MGS3 have pressure sensitive/analog button gameplay for CQC among other things, I think that's the main problem converting it to the PC, since all the PC gamepad don't support pressure sensitive *CMIIW tho*

But it would be great if they bring MGS3: Subsistence to the PC (me hopes for Splinter Cell-esque third person view :D)

MGS2 made massive use of pressure sensitivity; I couldn't play without it. MGS3 used it a lot more, of course.

MGS2 PC also doesn't recognise 90% of PS->USB's right sticks, which was a massive problem when you got the HF Blade.

Glad I will be playing on the PS2, I tried MGS2 on the PC and I would agree that it would be impossible to play using CQC on the PC,The new camera maked a great diffrence an the multiplayer could make it worthy of playing on the PC

All I could remember about pressure sensitivity from MGS2 was to put away the guns when you already draw it (not much of a problem tho, just unequip and equip again)

Yes it was a problem untill someone solves it (on the logitech forums IIRC)

yeah, I must say it was strange to defeat solidus with the gamepad in one hand and the mouse in the other.
but I did it. wooo 1337 madsk1llz (not really).

It's that I got a PS2 a long time after MGS2, but if I'd had the choice at the time - ps2 version, of course.

Still, aside from the aforementioned problem, I played through MGS2pc quite nicely. I had adapted to the gun problem, by switching it off before releasing the fire button (so no dummy shot was wasted)

MGS3, I played on PS2, and of course the controls (and overall smoothness) were a lot better. I need to trade it in though, as I want to get Subsistence....

It's quite 1337 if you really do that man :)

Here's how:

1.Open "padana.ini" and "pandanas.ini" files ( you will find them in "bin" folder of MGS2)
2.Look in both files for "01 Ry N" line and replase the "Ry" with the "Slider0", save & close both files.

Content of the files before & After:
before:
00 Rx N
01 Ry N
02 X N
03 Y N

after:
00 Rz N
01 Slider0 N
02 X N
03 Y N

3.Finally view properties of the both files and ckeck the "read only" box, its needed, becouse if you would start "MGS2SSetup.exe" without changing properties, the content of the "padana.ini" and "pandanas.ini" files will be set to default.
Or if it doesn't work, copy paste the attachment to your mgs2 folder ;)

This is all avoidable if KONAMI just make a freaking decent config apps that works and apparently they can't do that since in Silent Hill 4 the same problem occurs

hmm, the only problem i remember through MGS2 PC was the pressure sensitivity that only really bothered me when i was trying to beat VR missions. i guess i was in the 10% for the analog prob. Mayflash.com has supposedly just released a pressure sensitive ps2 to pc adapter: 'super dual box pro'

I guess the main issue is that there are no pressure sensitive game pads available for PC. So, what is stopping developers doing so?

1.) Can DirectX support this, perhaps it will be a feature in DirectX 10 if it isn't supported in DX 9.

2.) If the above case is impossible, is there any way for companies to code special software to allow pressure sensitivity?

...I hope that they will...I am dreaming of the day MGS 3 comes on PC.

Thanks for the input guys, I hope to hear more. :D

It's a limitation in directx and windows itself iirc.

Now, if you check out the controller from the link, then there you go...it is possible for us to get pressure sensitive pads. And, in the slight case that there are any legal issues, this is a sign that other game pad developers can integrate this technology into their pads.

So, once again....when is MGS3 coming on PC? :p But seriously, I hope it will happen.
