I'm having a serious moral issue and I would like some help from a moral forum..

You see, I lost all of my Final Fantasy VII CDs about a year ago in a garage sell (not as much as lost as sold, but I had no choice and they were in an almost mint condition so they were sold for lot of money!)
Before that, I burned the discs at a friend so I could play them via an emulator (We sold our Playstation too :( )
However my computer had a crappy video card that couldn't run pete's plugins and the computer was way too slow so it couldn't run peops well. (9 fps :( )
Recently, we recieved a new (for us) computer from a family relative. It's a 733mhz with a voodoo3 card. My friend said it could run epsxe with some of the plugins like peops and lewpy.
However, as you might've guessed, I was disappointed to find out the ISOs my friend made for me were gone. My friend and I tried to use some restoring programs on both of our computers, but nope....
When I first got Final Fantasy VII, I liked it so much and I still think it's the best game ever, and recently, with all the problems going in my life, I really want to play it again....
Now here's the problem - my friend told me he could easily download a pirated ISO off the web, but I'm really afraid to do that.
I think that my concience will torture me if I let him download it...
If I posted in this elsewhere I would probably get lots of "just download it, wimp" replies, so I want to ask my question in a more moral and legal place.
So could you give me some alternative for downloading the game? I really don't have any money at all and I can't ask my parents for it.
Plus it's so hard to find where I live, that if I'll find one it would probably be around 50$
There are none in second-hand stores and my friend is not permitted to buy stuff off the internet.
Help would be greatly appreciated...

Why don't you read the rules?

We don't condone piracy here at ngemu.

These n00bs, I swear...
Long and shot of it: we don't support it unless you actualy have the original CDs still in your possession
glory,

Final Fantasy VII is now part of Sony's Greatest Hits line. You could probably find it new for $20 or used for $10
man, i actually had to go through this with some other poster before.

i've seen FF7 NEW, BRAND SPANKING NEW in the stores for 12.99.

not only that, but.... ever thought of ebay?
Lets go easy on glory...Even though it doesn't appear as he had checked the rules, at least he didn't flat out request illegal downloads....Luckily his / her morals kicked in :)
Yep...but rules are always followed. :)
Otherwise, what are they set for?
He/She didn't break any, just wanted some moral advice. Regarding that, since you sold your game, you sold as well your right to play it. Even if your ISOS were working it would be illegal to use them. As it's been said, the game is easy and cheap to get, so you'd probably still have made a good deal if you buy it again, considering you said you sold it at a good price. And it's the right way to do it.
Agreeing with I-Chan. The game is really cheap and easy to find, heck I have the PC version myself. Just buy that and forget the emulator, works ok in winxp and looks nice with FSAA. As for downloading it wrong sure, but having a life changing moral experience cause of it... no. Your story sounds kinda... odd, first you sell the game, then you loose your copies, ummmm if it was that great wouldn't you have kept better care of it. And if your so worried and desperate to play it... you can easily get $12.99 with 2 shifts at any minimum wage job. All in all sounds to me as if your inadvertingly asking for someone to verify that downloading isn't wrong... which it is. Just my 2 cents.
FSAA on 733mhz (probably celeron) with voodoo3.. oO, good luck ;)

as for rest of your reply I agree with you Coolsvilleman this guy is up to sth... illegal...
If it's absolutely impossible to get the game anywhere (and it would do some people a lot of good to remember that not everybody trusts their credit card information to the Internet), then I, for one, would see no immorality in downloading it, on the condition that you buy it as soon as it is available to you.

By the way, does anyone else think it's funny how everyone is so uptight about piracy here? I mean, sure, illegal discussion should be against the rules, no question, but every time someone mentions piracy you can almost hear people's anuses tightening up and the subdued flaming begins. I find that funny, especially on an emulation forum.
Flaming? where and when? if you agressively talk about piracy, than it could be that we respond in simmilar way, na dif you think about piracy connected with PSOne and PS2... wouldn't it be annoying to you if you wrote BIG faq with capital leters that talking about downloaded isos is not allowed and not supported here? do you know how many lam00rs we have every day? they just sign in, skip reading rules and faq, than post about it... the same goes to 'how can I play with PCSX2 game'

also this forum is mostly about PSOne, PS 2 consoles... not so much about emus like MAME so you don't have to have arcade cabine with boards, well NGEmu also supports othere consoles, and dumping their games ain't that hard.

Almost forgot:

you can choose, if you don't trust internet shops that's your problem

you got something wrong with your morality, or rather, it's different morality, than morality that rule on this forum :)

with all of that NGEmu survived very long, and will be alive :)

Piracy has nothing to do with morailty but with legal issues. If you base your morality on legal issues... damn! Read books! Good books!
Well, we are law-abilding citizens...arn't we?
We live under rules... some people respect them and others don't. That's all I have to say.

Let me get this straight. First you ask for people's opinions, then you flame them for giving them to you. Seems a bit backwards, if you ask me. And, for your information, using your credit card online is safer than offline, since most sites utilise AES-256 256 bit encryption.
i've been reading this thread and not replying for a while because i dont want to get into this but...

1. the original poster hasnt even come back
2. s1l3nce, you are quite the philosopher, you know that? just like any philosopher, you havent really said anything...weighty? all speculation.
3. also, the word "neverending" is spelled wrong in your signature. unless "nevereding" is a new word i've not heard of.
4. piracy is "wrong" because the publisher/game maker never gets paid for the work they do, right? but, when you buy a game off ebay, the publisher doesnt get your money then either, do they? just a thought.
Actually, I believe, unless you buy the game directly from the publisher, you're buying it from someone who has (bought it from the publisher), and therefore the publisher has been paid.

About the "phylosophy" issue... I think the concepts I'm dealing with are quite simple so I wouldn't consider it to be "phylosophy" :eyemove: . Anyway, thanks for telling me about the spelling mistake in my signature.

I'm pretty sure you are right 'cos it happens like that in the music business.
reading books won't work here no matter how good books :p
