Actually the Drow language comes from Pen & Paper RPGs... PC D&D Based RPGs also use it (like the Baldur's Gate saga). MMORPG players just adopted it... they didn't create itBoltzmann said:It's an example of geekness of the MMORPG community, nonetheless![]()
It's all for the sake of roleplaying... I don't see it as something that bad. That is, if you are into role playing... this game stirs some serious memories from my Pen & Paper RPG sessions...Boltzmann said:Only geeks will bother translating to and from a fictional language... and actually using it in-game.
I didn't know it was claimed to be awesome... most people I know either hate it or hate SoEBoltzmann said:BTW, is Everquest 2 as awesome as claimed?
I was just poking fun at the playersKaiser Sigma said:It's all for the sake of roleplaying... I don't see it as something that bad. That is, if you are into role playing... this game stirs some serious memories from my Pen & Paper RPG sessions...
I've seen a few people claiming it was awesome, though.Kaiser Sigma said:I didn't know it was claimed to be awesome... most people I know either hate it or hate SoE![]()
Sounds interesting… but my main problem with MMORPGs is that they’re too time-consuming. And time is a commodity that I severely lack nowadays…Kaiser Sigma said:As for me, I joined for the Roleplaying component (which I have to admit, I was sckeptic when I was told this game had it) and I have to admit that so far it is quite impressive... with some more work this (not EQ2 per se but the genre itself) could be an evolution of old Pen & Paper Role playing games.
That's a misconception on MMORPGs based on the nature of experience-grinding players (aka beasts who level up like there is no tomorrow). I don't play for level advancement unless it is strictly necessary for RP events (for example, getting access to new lands). Time is a commodity I lack as well and I'd love to say that this game didn't have any impact on that... good news is that I am not less responsible than before, bad news is that now I have one hour less of sleepBoltzmann said:Sounds interesting… but my main problem with MMORPGs is that they’re too time-consuming. Yeah, though makes me wonder what kind of job on your tongue would be required to speak drow language proficiently... :lol:psicomaniaco said:I think this kind of thing is quite interesting!! LOL.
The problem is that with all the book-reading (not to mention my academic papers-hunts) I do, and the fact that I've a full-time job, and the other games that I still like to play, I'm seriously short on time.Kaiser Sigma said:That's a misconception on MMORPGs based on the nature of experience-grinding players (aka beasts who level up like there is no tomorrow). On weekends it gets pretty cool tho... my guild always hold some good RP event... again, brings back good memories from the good old P&P days.
