Since Player-X has been so kind as to post some strange news almost everyday and i must say I and a number of others tend to enjoy these articles that maybe a news section devoted to other things besides emulators be created on the site. Like maybe a world news tab beside the emulator news tab, which has been slow of late?

whats the point? It's offtopic discussion as in not on topic with emulation so why not just keep it where it is. Seems like a waste and just one more forum the mods have to moderate. I see no problem with where it is currently in its correct forum .. offtopic.

I don't think it's a good idea. NGemu is a serious emulation site, and it's purpose is to be a point of reference in the emulation scene. Those kind of news are funny, and indeed deserve a place on the open discussion forum; however, they don't fit with the idea of what ngemu is. Placing such news would probably reduce the credibility of the site.

i hardly ever venture into Open discussion. why not? im interested in emulation only. i dont want to discuss life and the news and stuff with you people so the way it is is just fine, all the other crap in one section.

He's just suggesting something and that's what this part of the forum is for. I do agree with you however. Just keep it in open discussion, there has been a certain lack of activity for months, but ever since emuforums is up again we've got more of this strange news. Putting all the (strange) news in a forum of it's own will create two forums with average activity, instead of one open (relatively busy) open discussion forum

you can find stupid news by the bunches every day of the week. A forum dedicated for that stuff would probably set off some people to post every single little news story, instead of the really stupid ones worthy in that forum

I brought up an idea for a dedicated software news forums, but the same problems still apply

I don't think it's a good idea. This sort of stuff fits perfectly in the open discussion area. And it certainly lights up the place.

ya i suppose your right. i kinda figured most people would wana keep emulation to emulation. as for spam on the boards and stuff i would have to also agree with that, but that will increase regardless or not of a new section. like say a new version of pcsx2 comes out. the boards will be flooded with dumb questions im sure. But as you said player-x

Exactly only a select elite would be able to post the news and then people could comment on only the "best ones".

The off topic section is enough, I don't post that much news that I need a whole other section besides, those kinds of news don't come everyday
