I need help with FF8. When i must change the CD´s in Epsxe from CD1 to CD2 the game says that it´s the wrong CD in de CD-ROM. This is not fun. The CD´s are originall and no "backups".......

please...what to do???

When you are asked for the disk you must hit scape to return to the ePSXe main menu, insert the disk then select change disk from the file menu, select CD-ROM and it should begin with the second disk.
Help FF8

When I´m diong that i only get this error message:

Epsxe have done an unknown error in modul GPUPETESOFT.DLL
Epsxe is closing.

I guess it´s the video device, but it´s the only one that works fine whit my computer (besides that I can´t change CD-Roms..=).....)
Some more info please, like what os and plug-ins? Though we've at least figured out that you're using Pete's software. Have you tried different cd plug-ins? Have you tried it from an iso?
just...

just save when it gives you the option to, "do you want to save your game" then save and quit

put in disc2 and open ff8 and your save file via your mem card

it should work fine
Me Idiot.....

Of course the "trick" with the save worked.......

It´s was just me that didn´t puch the right button on the pad to make the save.......It went right to asking about CD2......

So now it runs just fina........thnx for all the help........:)

Oh yeah, sometimes Pete's softdriver crashes. If it happens, use Pete's DirectX6 driver. It never crashes(at least with me :))
But let me allow one question: Why emulate Final Fantasy VIII, when it is available for PC and has at least higher resolution FMV's ?

Maybe I wasn't the only one who had crashes over and over during gameplay, especially when winning or losing the cardgame;) But then, play it on W2K, that worked fine by me!

Many Regards,
Carsten
Didn't the PC version of FF8 have crappy midi trakcs instead of the ones you hear on a PSX? I can't remember.
I wouldn't trust it, the PC version of ff7 that I bought awhile ago doesn't work under win2k for me at least, which does rather annoy me since I was working on maxing out my party and I was almost there too! Grrness.

Why would I want to buy FF8 twice when it is perfectly emulated on my system with epsxe? I am not the only one who gets near perfect emulation of FF8 on epsxe.. If you already got the psx version then why would you buy the game again? What? Higher resolution mdecs? They look great on the psx as well.. Higher ingame resolution? Epsxe runs the game at high resolutions as well.. The only thing about the pc version is that it allows you to play that weird moogle game.. Still the same game with the same storyline.. Oh and I did play the game all the way through with epsxe..
Oh, I was just curious...

Never meant that the PC-version is better then the PSX one. It might even be much more stable playing FF8-PSX with ePSXe than the PC-game -bad enough!

The FMV's instead look much better on the PC as they do in the emulated FF9. I never played the PSX-version of FF8 though, just wondered that someone owns Playstation-games without having a playstation, when the game is also available for PC.

Is the music better on FF8-PSX? FF7-PC sounded much better, then FF8-PC.
But i own a Playstation, but it´s broken....thats why i play my games on the PC.....
FF8 PC comeswith an upgrade for the Yamaha Software midi synth that makes the music sound MUCH nicer then anything else. Almost mp3 quality. The PC on is also much faster then with epsxe since emulating anything is so slow.
OK,I just got my hands on a demo of FF8 PC,all I can say is that the emulated FF8 PSX version looks MUCH better, granted that most of us can run at least in 800x600,it's definetly better.
Sure, the backgrounds in the PC version look better, but it's not enough, you can use anything superior to 640x480,and the characters just look bad at that rez.
The high rez movies look SLIGHTLY better, but not something that impressive.
i'm new to emulation. could someone please give me a clue on which graphics plugin i should use. in order to be able to finish the game with no problem and having the best performance with my geforce?

thank you
