In one way the older printers are better. If you can get one used they don't have the anti-cartridge refill measures in place, and find a good source of black ink you can save lots of money.

Only use it as a secondary printer though for black and white draft text prints.

Then get a new modern printer for photo prints

That's the only one thing I dislike about my Brother printer. Even if there's enough ink in the black cartridge to pump out at least 10 pages filled with text...it won't. It'll tell me to replace it before I can do anything.

They've managed to find a work-around for all those fancy anti-cartridge refilling systems here. In some cases, they simply do away with the cartridge's own ink storage altogether and attach a big 0.3 litter bottle to the side of the printer in which ink is kept and viola! Unlimited ink!

Even laser printer toners can get refilled.

I think there are underground sites dedicated to finguring out means of bypassing certain of the modern printers.

someone did the calculation once, and found if you take the minuscule amount in the ink cartridge and multiply it enough to get a full barrel of printer ink it would cost +$200000 USD... while 1 barrel of oil costs ~$50 USD right now :lol:

HP Deskjet F2120 looks nice and is all in one and around 60$ im buying it soon

The same model I have (or maybe I have the F2140, can't be bothered to check ). Its a nice all-round printer which should serve you well. Though its built-in OCR software is pretty sucky, and even normal scanning is pretty frustrating at times since it just saves the scan to some random location even though I've specified a directory oO

I haven't had a good printer since the HP Deskjet 620c. Actually, it's usually not the printers that are bad, but the drivers and software are terrible.

Actually, with a printer it's much better to have it in a seperate thread. It's a completely different item than regular PC stuff. DevinWolf is just new to most stuff, and we are probably the biggest source of information he's seen since google. He asks a lot of questions, that's what these forums are for, but he listens and learns, thankfully

Just remember mate, the basic printer in the box is always given to you FREE....it's the cartridges and refills which cost big money, and sadly, that's where they got you......

At least with inkjet and older printers anyway....




You should get laser though....it's really come down.... it used to be in the thousands.......
