I like my games fuzzy.

Does anyone else here think that the low rez non filtered graphix of VGS have a certain charm to them? I mean when you play PSX games on epsxe with super high rez and filtering it just looks too neat and clean and worse it allows the low polygon models and low res textures to become more apparent. Just wondering if i'm the only weirdo who feels this way.

I happen not to agree with that sentiment at all. :p

I can't stand playing any of my games on a PSX now. Even with smoothing, I generally don't use VGS at all, although that has less to do with the graphics than the numerous sound problems.
I agree with whoever, vgs has its charm but only in those games which dont work on epsxe.;)
If a game works fine in epsxe I never try to go for vgs.
guys did u ever notice the sound of vgs sucks its noisy i mean the frequency is to high
  ???? noisy???? waht do you mean..i love vgs!!
the sound his perfect..it seem like a real playstation for me..
the thing that vgs i think uses 44100Hz rather than 22 or 37 Hz
...I also like the original-playstation-look (a.k.a. "fuzzy") of VGS' graphics... call me crazy, but I also use Pete's Soft plugin A LOT, in ePSXe !! ...as for the sound, it may not be as crisp as the one the more advanced sound plugins produce (after some tweaking), but I wouldn't call it "noisy" - it sounds fine to me...
test alone in the dark and you'll notice the thunder dont sound good
The sound (esp the music and XA movie aduio) seems great to me... But sometimes the sound FX get kinda glitchy. The footsteps in FF8 are a good example. Also when a chracter enters limit mode in FF7 is just kind of a high pitch "beeeeee" rather than the original PSX "Kwaaa-Waaaahhh!" which just screams whoopass. :D

Just did that and agree with you completely.:)
Some of the sound effects aren't quite right in VGS, and there's nothing you can do about it...I noted most of the problems are in RPGs (there's a surprise...).
what i like in cvgs is the sound timing
The 3D accelerated graphics in epsxe are great but I can't stand the constant shifting of polygons and textures. 2D graphics are also terrible on epsxe. It looks MUCH better on VGS with DD filtering. The thing I like best about VGS is its accuracy and compatibility. Whatever epsxe can run VGS can always do better (except for the games it can't run of course) and it never fails to surprise me how well VGS plays. VGS' sound capabilities are quite good but sound effects seem somewhat muffled and some sound effects don't come out (death scream in FF Tactics).

street fighter alpha series supers sound weird :) MGS sound isnt right either....
and the sound is sort of 'light', something many older psxemu plugins also had. Also, when you max out the volume it indeed sounds too loud at times in vgs (scratchy). And sorry, but vgs' graphics just dont compare to epsxe.
:)
Hey and I thougt I wsa the only one too! I actually prefer VGS for compatiblity and what I thought to be very accurate sound. There is at least one strange anomaly with the sound I've recently noticed though.

When playing Xenogears on my K6-2 + MV3P chipset, the sounds of the menu popping up in battle sounds somewhat like blowing into a mic, but on the exact same system with a Celeron + 440BX, the same menu sound is a light beep.

Also, during on of the panic sequences the alarm accompanying the red lights aborad th Yggdrasil sound cut off and the wrong pitch with the Celeron but worked fine with the K6-2.

I found this to be extremely strange since VGS normally exhibits no noticeable errors whatsoever (for me)

if you max out the (wave) volume: yes.
My only prollem with VGS is that the transition from FMV to prerendered or vice versa are very harsh. Like a black screen for a second or two inbetween. Also big special spell effects especially in FF8/9 cause horrid slow-down. These types of problems dont happen on my 500 celery/i810/64 ram setup at werk.

"screen-switching" in VGS isnt smooth (sound cracks), and the sound skips once every 3/4 minutes or so.

but it's still a great emu, it's just that epsxe is much better :)

If you enable high color MDECs then it'll have a momentary pause in the transition from MDEC to gameplay. Select low color mode and the transition will be seamless (there isn't really that big of a difference in quality anyways).

A Celeron is far superior to the K6-2. Your 550 Mhz processor would be about equal to a 300 Mhz Celeron processor by comparison.

Samor: Sound in VGS is perfect for me, even during transitionary phases. VGS has always played playstation perfect as far as I'm concerned.

Thanx this fixed my transition prollem... course I still can't see the 3d models ontop of fmv.
