If I remember right, this is a somewhat common bug known as the "Auron Look" bug. I know it's been posted before, but I can't remember the fix (if there was one). I'd guess it has to do with the image/disc itself, the CDVD plug-in (I use the Linuz ISO CDVD 0.9.0 one), and/or maybe the graphics or even CPU options. I don't know.
Search the forums and I'm sure you'll find it. Try loading the game anew from the beginning (and I mean that, no save states), and try again. I never had this bug so I can't say what it is causing it.
