because of the higher temperatures in the summer, today i decided to replace my zalman 7000b alcu and picked up a Thermaltake Big Typhoon heatstink. It is a monster O_O. I knew it used a 120mm fan, but i didnt really understand how big this was until i went to the store and picked it up....its quite intimidating.

it brought my temps from 46 idle to 34-35 idle....and load temps i havent tried yet. It runs only at 1204 max and still keeps these really good temperatures. If there was not a sidefan right above it, it would be inaudible (right now, i can hear a slight whispering(?) sound because of the air currents...).

io thats the end of my Thermaltake Big Typhoon review >_<. This is my first thermaltake product and im glad i got it :)

EDIT : corrected some stuff.

erk . i totally forgot cuz i wanted to see it stressed max and couldnt find my dad's camera.

ambient 26 degrees. max load - 40 degrees o_O

here is a picture i just took (the view will be obstructed because my side fan is 120 mm as well >_>...that is the way it was designed):

Speaking of new heatsinks.. I recently bought a Cooler Master Jet 4. Got it because the fan on my Speeze copper HSF died, leaving me forced to hot glue another one on it because I couldn't find another 70x70mm fan.. it looked like crap and didn't cool all that well, so when I got $30, I went down to CUSA and picked it up.

Even on lowest setting it cools very very well, and according to this board's sensors, keeps my P4 @ 3.80GHz at a cool ~28C idle (at full speed, very loud). :) Looks hella cool as well.

haha yes i did :) the xp-120 is a very good heatsink. unfortuantely, its not compatible with k7 chipset so i didnt have a choice :(. But this one still does me good. the default fan on mine's is not as fast tho.

EDIT: didnt even see cooliscool's post O_O. nice hsf man. i wish mine was that cool :p for mine when u look in the case all u see is a giant fan. Yours looks like a jet engine !

Hehe, thanks D.D. The problem with traditional fans is the blind spot caused by the electronics in the middle. This Jet fan eliminates that issue, and as such, cools the HSF much more efficiently.

I've never been a sucker for TT heatsinks, I've never heard anything good about them.. guess I was wrong. Never expected it to outperform a Zalman.. nice. Definitely going to need it for the Summer. :)

You're telling me that 28C @ 3800MHz/1.7V with some cheap white goop thermal grease/idle isn't great? I beg to differ.. this cooler is VERY good.

The looks just make it better. :)
