Most G cards work well with Direct 3D....most Nvidia based are OpenGL, and 3DFX cards use Glide....

We do not believe Savage is Glide based...so here is our suggestion... Download Darkman's GPU Test program from PSX Fanatics, Aldos Tools, or perhaps here..... The program can only be used to test your card with Pete's GPU plugins..but since they are the most compatible this is fine....

1. determine if your card is 16bit or 32bit..then configure the plugins accordingly (If you try to run 32bit with a 16bit card it will not work...but if the card is 64bit..32bit wil work fine)

2. run the test program using Pete's D3D, Pete's OpenGL, and Pete's Soft to fine out which program works best...

Hope this helps

ok! this is a problem!

Ok I downloaded that GPU Tester and ran it an the several gpu's that I downloaded. It said that they should all be working fine with my video card, but when I went to try to make the emulator work it still would'nt take any of the plugins.

I'm confused...is ePSXe not recognizing them?? are they located in the correct folder? If it's not recognizing them, it's a different problem than the video card..
Last time I ran accross that problem I was trying to run ePSXe from a shortcut on the desktop BEFORE running it in the folder and configuring it.

Hmmm

Ok...seems as if you merely hit the "Test" button with GPU TEST...this will only tell you that the plugin is working properly...use the "Config" button to set the configurations as we stated earlier...
Once that is done click "OK" ..It will open a new window.... Look for "Benckmark" in the lower right corner...click on that...you should see various tests and shapes appear before you eyes...Once it is done..it will show results...do the other plugins and compare the results to see what card works best...

ummm... Savage IX? maybe you meant Savage 4 or IV whatever...

This used to be my first video card and used --Pete's D3D DX6--- driver for it, it was a while back(whileback meaning epsxev1.0 days) dunno if it still works for it, heck you don't lose anything for trying right? maybe you should get new drivers...

Maybe he has a notebook? Mine has a Savage/IX card, and it runs very well with Pete's D3D Plugin. Just make sure you install the latest drivers.

Ok I found what you meant by the configurated it. When I clicked the "OK" button, I don;t have a button that says "Benchmark." Is that the same thing as "Copy to Clipboard"? I have a button that says that.:eyes:

Hmmmm

???
Ok...if you press config you will be brought to a menu to configure the plugin...once you have configured it ...press ok...the press OK again at the next screen....
You should be seeing a screen like we have attached....click the benchmark button...and it will go through a series of tests...be sure to use ONLY Pete's plugins...

Actually, the emulator simply won't let me open anything. When I try to start a game, it tells me that I need to configure my plugin. Then when I go to configure the plugin, my computer denies that I even have one at all. Truth to tell, I have several, all of which I have downloaded from this site. My emulator just doesn't acnowledge any of them. I'm really sorry this problem is causing so much trouble. I bet that there is just one little detail I am overlooking.

Where did you unzip the plugins to? They should all go in the "plugins" folder of your ePSXe directory.

If you've already done so, then the only other way is to delete all registry settings and start from scratch.

also if you are running it from a shortcut make sure that in the shortcut properties the ePSXe directory (C:\epsxe\, for example) is listed under "Run In". I just had that problem, out of the blue, and when I placed the directory under "Run In" it began working again.
