I'm new to the this stuff and wondering how well No$GBA emu works with DS commercials games (aka roms). Just wondering how far emulation has progressed for emulating the DS.

From what I'm seeing No$GBA is the best DS emu so far. Does it play emulate most games well, like if you could what percentage of games are playable ? How is the compatibility with the two Castlevania games the new super mario game,Contra 4, Megaman zx if you care to comment with these games ?

How is the speed do most games run at 100% ? how strong does the PC have to be ? Thanks in advance I just want to be up to speed with emulation for the DS.

I can run PCSX2 and many PS2 games at full speed but I avarage mostly around 60% 95%.

I'm hoping that this emu for the DS is as good as the progress for the PS2. But wondering and hoping I can get most games running at 100% ? thanks again

thanks

You can see the compatibility list here, need a bit of trekking page by page, but I think you'll have your answer there.

No$gba is the best emulator for those without a very strong computer (my laptop of 1.6 Ghz Dual core with 2GB of RAM plays most games well and with around 100% speed with up to 30 fps), but at the moment there's no more development for this emulator for the reason unknown. And do know that no$gba only use one processor. If you do have a better computer, then try out IdeaS or DeSmume.

can you post your spec? but seeing you're playing pcsx2 fine (assuming speedhack isn't used) you'll do fine with no$gba.
as for the games, I can vouch that megaman zx (and zx advent) and castlevania dawn of sorrow (don't know bout portrait of ruin and ecclesia compatibility) runs fine till the end :thumb:

Well, from personal experience, Megaman ZX and ZX advent have no trouble running in no$gba with low spec. Out of the three castlevania titles for the DS, Dawn of Sorrow plays with the least graphical glitch or any other problems i.e. slowdowns, low frame rate. Portrait of ruins have some slowdowns and low frame rate, ecclesia also shows some slowdowns in some stages. But not to the point that it is unplayable. :)

Well whilst PCSX2 is a lot more demanding it does make use of multi-core optimisations so saying you can run PCSX2 well does not neccessarily mean the same for DS emus eventhough overall they are less demanding. I would say with a Core2Duo (although DS emus only use the first core there are still huge efficiency improvements in the Core2Duo design over the Pentiums) or equivalent processor at say 2.4Ghz should have no problems with at least 90% of the stuff out there, some games may require a little more power and others don't run well regardless of how much power you throw at them or have other issues.

uh hey.. I was saying he'll run fine with no$gba (not general/other ds emu), as even a P4 1.7GHz laptop procie is able to play some games, I assumed if he get at least more fps than my friend with P4 3GHz get with PCSX2 then at least he can hope to play using no$gba smoothly especially with that games he asked....
this is based on experiences, but still correct me if I'm wrong :p

No because 3Ghz on a P4 despite the inefficiency is a lot of brute force but a dual-core at say 2Ghz in a dual-core optimised app will be faster than that however when it comes to single core apps the P4 will win because of the brute force 3Ghz it has VS the average 2Ghz of the dual-core so just running PCSX2 well without any further info means little.
Yes no$gba requires the least out of all the DS emus...but even it likes a little more power now and then...I know because games like Pokemon Diamond and other 3Dlike titles run a lot better on my 2.8Ghz Quad than on my old 2.1Ghz AMD 3700+ single core.

depend on what dual core architecture it is (i believe core2 2GHz will win over a P4 3GHz on single core app)... but like I said a measly single core P4 1.7GHz lappy procie can run no$gba fine (although yea, the game is light) so i assumed the minimum req for no$gba is pretty low ... hmm i'll try underclocking my athlon x2 and see the limit of it, just for fun :p

Despite the efficiency improvements from improved architecture I doubt they account for a whole 1Ghz additional performance...at the most they would be equal.

last question if some games run to fast does the emu have the option to toggle a frame limiter so it don't go over 60 fps ? thanks

Would it hurt you just to try it and see? Or are you under a bizarre curse only to download one program per month?

Some Internet packages have a thing called download limit, so this curse indeed exists.
As for Davv: No$Zoomer has that option, though you'll probably never need it.

True...but dumping games from DS to PC is enough of a mission to not want to do it just for a test so I understand why he wants to ask before getting it rather than possibly waste his time on something which will only take up a lot of HDD space and time and offer nothing in return.

While we're continuing this charade, i should propose that a visit to pdroms.de can result in the acquisition of roms suitable for self-education on all issues brought up here but that of retail games compatibility.
