Get ICQ 99b? I don't like 2001 because it seems to be incompatible with computers I've used it on. As a bonus, a lot of the other recent worthless features are eliminated.

You might be able to get rid of the banner in settings somewhere?

A friend of mine reported that the latest beta on the page doens't have these any more ... just download it and try it yourself. If not, I used a banner remover to kick them out from the old version.

I'm using the latest beta from ICQ's official page, but it still has banners. Look at the bottom of the message window:
