I downloaded a patch from here, extracted it into the patch folder (Its a patch for Final Fantasy X) but I was just wondering how to actual load the patch to work in the game?

What I'm doing is just clicking enable patches under misc. Is there anything else I have to do like manually locate and laod a patch file for the game?

To make a patch to work:
1.You must have the exact game version as the patch
2.You must enable the patches from Misc=>Enable Patches
3.You must place the patch in the patches folder
4.If your CDVD/ISO plugin get the CRC incorrectly the patch wont be loaded.
