I offer my services for free, but if one of my hallmates wishes to donate a beer to my "I need a beer" fund I'd be happy to lighten their load.
They are always free to give me a beer :p

I don't charge ppl, the only things I do are helping them with software, or checking if there is anything wrong with hardware, but beside time, it doesn't cost me a thing. When someone wants to give me something for my time, I will accept it, but I don't charge them.

Gah! I hate playing tech support! It's always the same stupid thing: People have a broadband connection and no firewall/antivirus. I spend four hours cleaning off viruses and spyware, and let's not forget that their machine is usually a PENTIUM II which makes the whole processe take EVEN LONGER!
People should seriously just upgrade every three years. Why not? Dell or Gateway sell entire systems for under four hundred dollars! That's cheaper than what it would cost to pay tech support and upgrade!

Yeah, so basically I f$#%ing hate fixing computers.

Aerith
I know what you mean, I had to remove spyware once from a computer (nasty pr0n dialers :p), but their connection was a very bad 56k so I wasn't even able to download anti spyware software :???: Had to go to some other ppl I knew, download the software, burn it onto a RWdisc, go back, install the **** and a virusscanner as well. Wait for an hour to have it checked... And I was done

At least they are nice ppl so I didn't mind it took long, I hadn't talked to them for some time as well, and they gave me some money when I went home again :)

Or even worse: when they don't even know there's a difference between the RAM memory and the HD memory

Well, believe me, I sometimes cringe when I have to be sent out to the front desk to help customers. The fact that some of their questions are just as irritating like nails on a chalkboard. I sometimes wish I can tell them to just get out of here before they embarrass themselves even more... but hey I need to keep that smile and try to help them, but sometimes in the end it becomes hopeless.
That's an everyday problem with my father and brother, I had to explain my brother what the difference is between a zip file and an mp3 file  Believe, it ain't easy..... (btw, he's 15 and uses the computer every day oO )
