Well we see price drops every now and then....some price drops are pretty huge...
.i wanted to know how much $ does it cost for a manufacturer to make a graphics card(say some latest ones)(just out the factory kinda thing...no dealership cost, transport cost etc).......and if possible what is their profit margin when they first release the card.........

I'm pretty sure that you won't get any definitive answers to this as the only ones who would know this would be the top brass and the marketing team of the graphics card manufacturer.

Some things that must be considered in the consumer cost:

1.) Staff

2.) Research & Development (R&D)

3.) Foundry costs (TSMC, ATI Canada)

4.) Board production costs (BFG, XFX, Saphire, Powercolor, etc.)

5.) Packaging, advertising

Fabrication process is quite complicated, the cost isn't about the material, but about the technology involved and all.

Nanotech chip fabrication process requires:
-Silicon wafers(usually in mass production)
-Etching (wet etching is cheap but the cut is rough, dry etch is sharp but hella expensive)
-lithography (micro size are cheap like pennies using visible light, but nm stuff will need x-ray or electron beam which are hella expensive)

There are also stuff revolving around structural support and design, which cost a lot research wise.

Each machine in fabrication is on the order of millions USD or more

The fabrication lab are also expensive to maintain.

Basically, the material, like silicon and even gold you need in the process will not reach 20 dollars, but the refinement and deposition of silicon and etc cost a lot.

You are paying for the technology.

The manifacturing costs depend on the maturity of the FAB. for the gpu and memory, and any additional parts required, like additional PCB and NVEIO chips.

use google or just check the nearest Computer Manufacture Shop Next to you. it depends on what graphic card you are planing to buy and which country you live in.
Don't be like me getting trolled for not using google :)

I suggest you buy a new graphic card maybe geforce9500. its not really bad at all and you will get to too much trouble fixing it

Good luck

Fadz is right about the tech costs. But companies pay for the tech all at once. Everything else is profit after the tooling is paid for. Then they have to pay overhead: shipping, quality control, employees, pakaging and the like.
