i still have my first xbox 360 and no red yet im been playin halo 3 for hours no red yet. The topic of the day is how many xbox 360's did you have to go thru due to the red ring of death.

There was an article in the gameinformer saying that microsoft was putting 1 million dollars aside to fix the red ring problem but they went back on there word and there will be no fix for the xbox 360.

so if anybody has stories about there red rings plz share.

My 360 red ringed on me twice, both times were fixed and returned within 2 weeks and I haven't had an issue since. As far as I know freshly made consoled shouldn't have too many issues with the RROD due to heating problems as they have introduced more efficient chips or whatever.

If my 360 can survive the next month or so of 100 plus degree F temperatures here then I say it is RROD immune. haha

So far been using it for 3 weeks this summer and good so far. I plan on beating Blue Dragon and playing some Fable 2.

I sold mine. But I heard it red ringed on the guy I sold it to some months later. I lolled and played some PS3.
I like, and agree with this evilness

Red Ring of Death. Also known as "MY GAME! I WAS JUST ABOUT TO SAVE TOO! BLAST!"

I also forgot to mention that when I did receive my console for the second time it had a few screws loose inside, so no points for quality control.

Mine didn't get the red ring of death however I did get E74 or Error 74 which is basically just 1 red light segment. I read somewhere like a month ago that this error is steadily on the rise for some reason and luckily when I called MS support 2 days ago this error is now covered under the red ring of death 3 year thing.

how ever there is a cure for the red ring of someone covered on ps3news that if you take apart your 360 and tighten the heatsink on the mobo then that should prevent the red ring from happening.

no it doesn't. it just extends the life by a few months.

the error is caused by brittle solder, and the heat/cool cycles cause it to crack.

A colleague of mine had the problem. It's a nice system, but the build quality is pure crap. I'd get a PS3 for that reason alone.
