Highest quality - OpenGL2 vs. OpenGL 1.75 with AA/AF

Hey everyone. Been lurking for a while and have done a lot of reading on this site. I've seen many different setups. I'm basically trying to establish my baseline "general" configuration that I'll use for most games, then focus on adjusting for individual games. My specs are as follows:

Athlon 3200+ (@ 2.4ghz)
Geforce 6600gt
1 gb Ram

Will you get better quality graphics from OGL2 with max quality settings or OGL 1.75 max quality, using high FSAA/AF (ie, 8x/8x)? Just would like to know from people who have experience with this.

Can someone point me to a post that has good OGL2 shader settings? Thanks.

Shaders are pretty much unused unless you want Black & White. :p
For this case, go to Pete's webby to obtain more info.

My preference is the OGL2.
Go for the OGL if you want FSAA/AS.

AF wont work on PSX emus since the PSX lacks a Z buffer. AA will only work on OpenGL.

there are some cool shaders, like Scale2x and a little fullscreen filter/blur action. overall though, they are mostly useless (i dont use em.)

as for the quality? try it yourself. OGL tends to be a bit sharper and OGL2 a bit, erm, cleaner i suppose with it's fullscreen and MDEC filters. also, OGL2 is more compatible with games like FF7,8,9 and others. some games, like MGS, i recommend OGL because of its PC FPS calculation special game fix.

what im trying to say is, there's no be all end all solution to the best graphics. you have to decide that for yourself. and even if you've decided that OGL2 is your favorite--you may have to switch back to OGL occasionally.

by the way, AF doesnt work with PSX emulation since the PSX doesnt have a Zbuffer ;) it does, however, force bilinear filtering which can look pretty fugly on games because it can mess up textures.

edit: dammit elly you snuck in your post while i was writing this one... :hdbash: its ok i still love ya.
